Also, I have been incredibly harsh on Chris Wright the past 2 years, but I actually think he's been playing with much more control over the past few weeks on offense. His shots have just not been falling.
His defense (and the team's defense, for that matter) is a different story...

We really cannot win a small game. Attended the game and I left not knowing what to think. It was weird because the only thing I could point to that was really poor, was the defense's consistency, RU just got too many easy looks for a team that really does not get them. But we out-rebounded them. We shot over 50%. We did some good things with Monroe, but the 2-3 still gives us fits at times. All that said, I think the simplest explanation is CW struggled and when he struggles this team loses. It is a shame that a team can rise and fall with one player, but the Hoyas definitely need CW to play well to win. That puts a lot of pressure on Wright and I could see him during the game, after missing those FTs, cursing himself out. He plays with his heart on his sleeve and appears to be a great kid that sometimes seems to get too down on himself. I just hope he can find that balance between playing within his talent (which is more than enough for us to win) and trying to do too much. On to the next one, Go Hoyas! Chris's struggles are mental. Anybody who watches how he reacts on the court can see that. That's why we can ride him when he's playing w/supreme confidence like against Pitt and that's why his bad play as of late has snowballed. I'm glad the 3 is the coach and not me because I don't know how you get a player as talented as CW to snap out of the funk.

As much as JT3 would like for this team to be a 3 headed monster(Monroe,Freeman & Wright), this team will only go as far as Chris Wright will take them. Its nice to think of Monroe as a point forward and that the system could make him assist leader for this team, but the truth is that since the invention of the 3pt shot the college game is a guard dominated game. In blowout games against good and bad teams Monroe will have major points/assists in Hoya win, but in the nail biters the point guards of the elite teams take over and make things happen for their team to insure the victory. This year in the Hoya losses to ODU,SFU and Rutgers Wright could not lift his game to get his team the win. Monroe could be having a great game but in the end with teams double teaming him it will take a point guard to break the defense down and make the defense have to make a decision, continue doubling Monroe or stop him from getting to the basket. Wright is the best point guard Georgetown has had since Iverson but for whatever reason has bad games against lower echelon teams.

Hey Sixer, What's up with your boy Wright? Harlem p.s. Is that you giving Greg some love Chris looks to have lost a little confidence. That, and he seemed to play a secondary role to austin and greg today. IMO, he doesn't play well when the ball is not in his hands. I absolutely hate it when someone else starts the offense. As for Greg, yes, I have been hard on him, but he played well today. He was very aggressive and at one point he said "......can't handle me" I like that mental makeup

Surprised no one has mentioned that we had 14 turnovers to their 8. It seemed like we were really sloppy with the ball. 5 of those were Greg's, BTW.

Greg consistently has had around five turnovers - I think we may need to accept that. A lot of those come on difficult passes although he needs to be more careful. But guards getting picked off leading to transition buckets is not good... other teammates need to step up even more than him.

This game absolutely ruined my night, which I realize says more about me than anything else but still. I wanted so badly to be up for Syracuse the whole week, just completely pumped for the game. Now I can't think about basketball without just wanting to punch a wall.

Sorry, but I can't see JV on the bench at the end of the game. We needed the post presence and brut force. That was III's decision. He wasn't out- coached, he just didn't see what was in front of him again, I hope he doesn't repeat the bad moves of last year, Oh he can't Nikita has transfered.

He is definitely more comfortable when he is dominating the ball. We need him to get his confidence back, especially with his shot. Perhaps SU's 2-3 zone will give him some opportunities?

Probably won't even watch basketball until I show up at Verizon on Thursday, and I hate that feeling.

This marks 3 losses to inferior teams. No excuse for not being able to get up for any conference game. Players have off days and JT III has chosen to play with 7--which means that when someone is having an off day there ae limited options. Like his father JT III cannot seem to coach consistent FT shooting. Not the end of the world--but a hell of a bad way to start a new week.

from Monroe -- and I agree with him -- this is tough to take as a passionate fan...
"Basically they just wanted it more than us. It wasn't anything Xs and Os. They didn't do anything different. They didn't make any new plays or anything like that. They just wanted it more than us today."

Every team has off days, but good teams win ugly games by getting stops when they need them. This team really can't win games on defense. Rutgers was not making tough shots. They got open shots pretty easily for most of the game.

Might be the only team in the country that can beat Duke and Nova soundly, and also lose to USF at home and get beat by 3 by a team we destroyed by 26 earilier in the year. I honestly can't wrap my mind around that. It's actually kind of impressive. Maybe we will finish the season beating Syracuse, WVU, and Louisville but then drop Notre Dame and Cinci.
