...is apparently writing on your hand. This is somehow more "real" 'Murkin than using a teleprompter. Who knew?

On the plus side, this confirms for me that she can read and write.

Maybe she wrote down the phonetic spelling of "corpsman," so she wouldn't screw it up three times in a single speech.

Neiman Marcus populism at its best... Three phrases on your hand? Why is this a big deal? She apparently can't remember three phrases. Oh, and she crossed out "budget cuts". Fake fiscal conservatism yet again.

Three phrases on your hand? Why is this a big deal? Because she criticized Obama for not being able to do anything without a teleprompter in the same appearance.

Imagine if you saw Joe Biden peak at his palm to remember a talking point like "Lift American Spirits." You would be all over him. And so would I. This is ridiculous. Palin just needs to go away once and for all. She is not a legitimate political leader, or even a legitimate thinking adult.

It's not nonsense. The point is POTUS can't even give a speech at an elementary school without having his teleprompters set up. There's nothing wrong with using some notecards (or notes on your hand), but when you're a slave to the words on the screen and seem incapable of impromptu speaking, yet are supposed to be a great orator, it's amusing.

Except that he did great at the Republican Luncheon Question Time without a teleprompter, so all of that is just not true. Look, I wouldn't have started a thread about this, but attacking someone for having a teleprompter while having talking points written on your hand is a flabbergasting level of hypocrisy.

Well, I'm not sure how you'd be able to use a teleprompter at a Q&A session, or during an interview. Apples and oranges.

If, by "great," you mean he avoided the content of every question and answered instead with his own usual strawman arguments, then yes, he did superbly. By the way, TC, I think your time is long up on the bet, but I'm guessing the sentiment is starting to grow on you, so please feel free to keep your signature as is. You've been a good sport. ;D

Does any of this really matter? If someone is proposing good ideas with which I agree, I don't really care if they are being whispered to him or her by the Great Gazoo. Conversely, if I find the proposals disagreeable, I don't care if they're coming from a burning bush.
At the end of the day, the medium is not, and never should be, the message.

If, by "great," you mean he avoided the content of every question and answered instead with his own usual strawman arguments, then yes, he did superbly. Maybe I watched a different event, but what I saw were a lot of talking points being spouted at Obama, him answering them - and two people that asked actual questions - Paul Ryan and Roskum of Illinois. He and Ryan had a decent back and forth. What really struck me though is the tone in which Ryan and Roskum used - rather than mixing up the adjective form of Democrat/Democratic they were pretty sincere. Compared to Hensarling or Chaffetz or Blackburn, it was a huge difference. What's screwed up about our political system is that instead of Chaffetz and Blackburn and Hensarling getting their butts kicked - Ryan's going to get attacked for his plan and it looks like the House wants to force a vote on it. I don't agree with any of Ryan's ideas but at least he has some - it's hard to fight with or legislate with people who don't want to be tied to anything.

Paul Ryan is probably my favorite Congressman (or Senator, for that matter).
We could use a lot more like him in both parties.

At the very least, is there any doubt this will be on SNL (or have they stopped doing Sarah Palin on that show?).

Then why is a teleprompter such a problem for you? And as far as using it in the elementary school, yes, he was speaking at a school. But as long as it's being filmed and broadcast on television, then it's not like he's just speaking to the kids. He's speaking to the same 24 hour news cycle audience that he addresses every day.
