Just want to echo how happy I was with the crowd. I think plenty of people snuck into the lower bowl (which is just fine by me). They were loud and completely drowned out the Nova people. Well, well done.

I was so amazed when i got to my seats a couple of minutes into the game and saw all the people. I was stunned. absolutely stunned. I expected it to look worse than the USF game. I was in awe. Thank you so much to all of those who were able to make it to the game. Thanks to my friends with their giant jeep who drove us down from bethesda to the verizon center. Crowd was amazing.

only bad part was that they werent checking tickets and villanova fans were all over my section, 111 i didnt make any friends today i will be the reason a lot of nova fans will saying that gtown fans are awful...sorry for cheering for my team the best was at the end of the game when nova was still pressing and gtown was scoring...they thought gtown was rubbing it in...i tried to explain that nova was pressing...when they fouled with .2 left i asked if they should miss it on purpose b/c it was rubbing it in Yeah, if I am not mistaken, there werent lower bowl attendants. People just took seats where they could. My section had Nova fans, and I promptly moved down. There were 1 or 2 Nova fans near me, and they didnt say a thing until it got to 10 or so, and then they started cheering. When the comeback failed, they started trying to talk smack for us losing for USF, which is laughable. Nova fans just couldnt take it. Even the older fans with kids just had to say something. Take your beating, and go back home. No one was saying Nova is awful, we were just rooting hard for our team...altho, in this case, i thought the overrated cheer was a little silly.

I am so glad that on Thursday night that I made a reservation for Friday and Saturday nights at Hotel Monaco across the street from VC. On Friday when I heard it was already snowing in DC by noon, I picked my son up from school in NJ an 1 1/2 hours before end of the school day to make the trip to DC before there was alot of snow. We just got home a few hours ago. What a great father & son weekend for his 10th birthday!

Echo everything that's been said. That was a fun, fun crowd yesterday made even moreso by the lack of ushers. See, good things can happen when it's a free-for-all! Props to everyone who drove in and those who had a long hike. Amazing game. The team looked inspired and it had a lot to do with all of us!!!! If we bring that kind of crowd energy every game, we've got one of the best home courts around.
Also echo the comments about Nova fans. Just a mess of snide, weak remarks made out of a desperate attempt to make themselves feel better, and lots of stupidity about USF. Guys, we get it, we laid an egg on Weds. Know what? We just hung a hundo on you. Eat it and go back to Philly.

Among the best stories I have heard so far.
The students who got to Verizon real early. They were standing outside shivering when the ESPN TV crew opened the doors and said that they were shorthanded, and if the students would like to help lay cable that the students could:
a.) come inside and get warm
b.) get paid and
c.) get front row seats behind the announcers.
My friend from Alexandria rented an F-150 4WD, parked it at the top of the hill above his house and made the trip into Verizon twice, once to make sure he could make it and then for the game.
My sophomore son was on the Metro with the Nova players and struck up a conversation with Antonio Pena. When asked what he was doing on the Metro, Pena's response ....S**t happens.
