While I expect and anticipate a W on Saturday, I really hope the students don't rush the court. This is an activity that should be reserved for big time upsets.
The last time we beat Duke at home would qualify as they were #1 and we weren't even ranked. There seems to have been a lot of court rushing this season which I guess makes sense since a lot of number 1's have fallen, but I sincerely hope that our students cheer & go nuts, but stay off the court as this will be just another W for the HOYAS!!!!

I really don't think this is even a concern. There will be jubilation, but we're a top ten team.

I don't think rushing the court is an embarrassment so much as it is a matter of displaying the proper respect for one of the most accomplished basketball programs in the past 100 years. Every student today knows that Duke is the alpha and the omega of college basketball and I think most will freely acknowledge that Georgetown is barely worthy of playing on the same court as Duke in the first place. Simply beating Duke at home this season would mean that we are almost on the verge of being an elite basketball program in our own right, and if that's not reason for jubilantly storming the court to prostrate ourselves before the greatest college basketball coach in America, then I don't know what is.

I say we rush the court BEFORE the opening tip and confuse the heck out of the Dukies. They would be mentally defeated before the first point was scored. It would be worth the technical.

Haha, well I hope you're being sarcastic, because if you're not, all I'm going to say is that I'll have to respectfully disagree with you there.

Why do we have this thread? This is Georgetown. People are smart enough to realize that beating Duke will hardly be a big deal. Quit worrying.

Why would we rush the court when we're ranked higher than Duke?!

I'm rushing the court, win or loss. That or wait in line to get into a bar outside Verizon...in the cold and snow.

If we're going to have threads about not rushing the court against Duke, perhaps we should have threads about how III should not bench Monroe and how we should not fire III and bring back Esherick. We can have an entire series of threads devoted to arguments that every Hoya fan is on one side of.

Speaking of rushing the court, Providence fans did it after beating UConn tonight.

New question: If we lose to Duke... and drop into the low teens/early 20s in the rankings
and KANSAS loses, putting villanova at #1
IS A STORM ACCEPTABLE AFTER BEING A #1 VILLANOVA TEAM? (Do the circumstances surrounding the 1985 championship affect this?)

Possibly. FYI, I love the visual of the Dukies drawing multiple charges against the bum rush of fans.
