Georgetown had best not ever storm the court like UConn did, should we ever manage to beat a higher ranked opponent. Ranked teams don't storm courts.

It was so half-assed too. A pocketful of kids went and then the rest were like uhhh, should we??? And then sort of stumbled their way to the court. If you are going to do it (and you shouldn't), go for the gusto.

NO. NO COURT STORMING. NOT AT ALL.
We'll look like morons and get panned for it. When Duke was #1 and undefeated, and we were unranked, THEN we stormed the court. I'll take that. But a top 15 team does not storm the court.

Don't worry we're not rushing the court anytime soon.
Yeah it was clear that a majority of Uconn fans were like " uh are we doing this? i guess so, better get out on the court"

Ranked team at home, game over for the last 6 minutes, #1 team that has just lost...not great.
Court storming is for exciting, unexpected, or meaningful. I'm usually all for it but this makes no sense. The game was over forever and Texas was only #1 by timing. Also, a good rule of thumb is if everyone is looking at each other thinking "should we" it's not the time.

They're desperate for good news.
Anticipation of this game sent their coach over the edge.
It's understandable ... for Storrs, CT, not Washington, DC.

Particularly for the Duke game, there should be no court storm . After we blow them out and gain revenge for last year's fixed game we should quietly walk out as if we had just beaten Mt. Saint Marys or Lafayette. IMAO.

It was a huge win for a struggling UConn! That win in itself got them in the dance! Not to mention, it makes us look that much stronger! Congrats UConn!

If you are ranked you dont storm the court, period. You could be NJIT but if you are ranked you dont get to storm the court. The one exception to this is if you have just won some sort of championship, like a reg season conference title (this is an exception if you are like AU or something two years ago or were an underdog in you league and won and were ranked at the same time, but GU over L'ville two years ago doesnt count).
Additionally, if you have won a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP in the past ten years you dont get to storm the court either. Storming the court is for traditionally crappy teams that get lucky or are having a crazy good year.
This year has been especially bad for court storming because of UNC. All those ACC teams think they are beating the 1967 UCLA Bruins, but in reality they are beating a terrible over ranked, mediocre UNC team.
And so by my logic, Gtown does not get to storm the court at all this year, period. I will cry in the stands if i see drunk freshman streaming on to the court on Jan 30. I will also feel a great need to go on to the court and punch at least 15 of them in the face.

only worthwhile storming of the court in the last 8 years was the Duke win.

Does anyone remember when Pat Forde wrote a good column? Yes, there was one four years ago- sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=forde_pat&id=2306416If your program plays in a major conference, has some basketball heritage and takes itself fairly seriously, court stormings should be reserved for: upsetting a top five team; knocking off an unbeaten league rival of particular dislike; ending a period of extreme and elongated futility against an arch rival; clinching a conference championship.

i would not have been upset and almost expected us to storm the court after the you-con game this year. it was close, we had a huge comeback, they were a good team and one of our bigger rivals and we recently went something like 12 years without beating them
a court rush should feel somewhat spontaneous - thus it has to be a close game - regardless of any other circumstances

Relax folks... Alumni with perspective and years of history can point out when it is or isn't appropriate to storm the court. Our current students weren't alive when the Hoyas were national champs. Let 'em have their fun if they want.
If HB wants to coach them up that we shouldn't rush the court after we beat Duke, that's fine, bit if they don't, I can't really say I have a problem with that. After all, if knocking off a top 10 team that you have ill will towards isn't worth celebrating, what is?
We're not a factory school that's championship or bust - sometimes a little fun along the way isn't such a bad thing.

Since Duke is a satanic institution (note their name-Devils, how whenever anything truly evil happens in America, be it a constitutional crisis (Richard Nixon), economic catastrophe (GM and Ric Waggoner) or humanitarian disaster (Claude Allen and Hurricane Katrina), an evil Duke alum is culpable; note how the devil himself took over and posessed John Cahill last year), I might suggest the simple raising of 10,000 or so crosses once the excorcsim is complete next Saturday. Ok, so I go too far and use too much hyperbole. But once we do beat them, we should act with class and not find it necessary to storm the court.

Meh, UConn was in desperate need of a win like that, and despite the loss earlier in the week, Texas was still ranked #1. NBD, IMHO.
That said, yes, we should not storm the court if/when we beat Duke.

I think there is also an exception for last second buzzer (game clock has to fully expire) beaters when you are losing going into the play. Something about the last second winners makes me think it's okay. I was not upset when students rushed against ND a few years back even though ND was not ranked.

For storming the court in games between ranked teams...I believe that there should be at least a 15 spot ranking difference
