That's an idiotic rule, although there may be some minor dangers in court rushing it is truly awesome and is one of the great aspects of college sports.

The SEC passed that rule in reaction to the Pacers-Pistons thing and also because of the SC-Clemson fight (even though no fans were involved in that.)

Genius move by the SEC(sarcasm), cause it was a court rushing after a won game that caused the fight in Detroit, hahaha, that is sooooooo stupid!!!
If they wanted to pass a rule it should have been about keeping players out of the stands(which they may have done as well) and about suspensions and consequences for teams fighting. Why the fans ahve to be punished for a fight between two football teams is beyond me.

I agree. Pro and College Bball are totally different in their environments. Banning court rushing after a great upset takes away some of what makes the college game great. What next - banning cheering during the game, only at time outs?

Honestly, we should never rush the court...to me it's ok for a groundbreaking game- a major, major upset. It happens too often now, and we should never play a game where a win would be a major, major upset.
On a nother note, an Arizona high school student was paralyzed after injuring himself rushing the court. Really, think about all the emotion on the floor at the time, with a winning team, a losing team, and hundereds of over-excited (and possibly intoxicated fans). It surprises me that there have not been more problems, such at the Nebraska? football player that hit a fan who rushed the field. Assuming the SEC made serious recommendations to its member schools, as to how to prevent this, I applaud their move.

I say the Big East should fine BC. Not because the SEC's rule is good, but just for principle.
Let's get every last cent we can from them.

The $EC is, of course, a pro league which explains the rule.

A football player getting paralyzed in the natural flow of the game and a basketball player getting hurt b.c of people storming the floor are apples and oranges, 007. I rushed the floor in my day, but if they want to ban it, you can't argue with their reasoning. There is an inherent security risk when thousands of students are pouring onto the court. We're very lucky we haven't seen an incident, yet, where a player on the losing team gets into it with some of the kids rushing the floor. People have also been paralyzed playing football but you don't see the game being outlawed, do you?
