I hate Syracuse!!!!!
I have a PDF copy of the New York Times game story on the Hoyas great comeback win to close down Manley Field House. Mindful of this site's policy on copyright material, I will not post it here, however I will email a copy to anyone who wants it if you contact me at Sortwell@aol.com.
Did I mention that I hate Syracuse.

I'll take a copy at tjm62@geogetown.edu (unclear if this outright solicitation violates Board rules).

On my way home Saturday, I paid a visit to Manley Field House just to resusitate some good old Hoya karma. The last time I was in that building was 30 years ago, and the outcome was extremely satisfying.

The last time I was in that building was 30 years ago, and the outcome was extremely satisfying. That was a hell of a road trip. Thanks again to Mama Tarky for putting up with us. Who was the idiot that rented cars to us anyway?

Speaking of closing down an opponent's facility with a Hoya win (and also on an indirect mention of the tark), a not so famous closing happened in the early 80's (1981, I believe) with a defeat of UNLV under Coach Jerry Tarkanian at the last game at the Las Vegas Convention Center rotunda. UNLV would open up the Thomas and Mack center the next season. Sleepy led the Hoyas to the close win. Our student secretary during those times was one of the UNLV cheerleaders, so I had fun with my bragging rights. ;D

I always thought JTII made the Manley quip in the post-game press con. I've just read it was to the entire crowd on the scorer's table mic? Can someone confirm? If so, that is so much more awesomer than I thought.

Seriously...where did he say it? To thousands of cuse fans or a few dozen reporters? I'm seeing conflicting reports now.

Seriously...where did he say it? To thousands of cuse fans or a few dozen reporters? I'm seeing conflicting reports now. I've always heard it was on a mic to the entire crowd at Manley. And, let's not forget that the Hoyas also beat Cuse when they named the floor at the Carrier Dome after Boeheim.

He definitely said it at the press conference, but I remember seeing something about him saying it after the game to the crowd. If he didnt say that, i think he did say something to the crowd.
ON EDIT: I think the confusion is because he said it in both places.

I've seen the video before, most likely in a Gtown documentary - perhaps the one Spike did a few years back or some other one.

“To go into halftime ahead was unbelievable [given] the way we started the game,” Boeheim said. “To dominate a top-10 team in the country after giving them 14 points is quite an effort.” The above quote is why we all "love" Boehim so much. Now how many coaches would give this backhanded compliment to a team and their coach by saying that they are a top 10 team then go on to say that his team coached by him had just "dominated" that team. Most coaches don't use that language when they are talking about their own team after a win except our good buddy Boehim.

I despise Boeheim, but after the dismantling his team just laid on the Hoyas, he has a right to say whatever he wants. Let's hope payback is a be-yotch (anyone remember the Road Ducks?).

It's good for the rivalry.
