Ed Schultz has said he is willing to cheat to have Coakley win. How do the Democrats on this board feel on that question? Is Coakley victory and a save of the 60 vote supermajority worth cheating to obtain? I am not suggesting she can only win by cheating, but would you do it?

I'm going to guess -- because I have a lot of faith that most of the Dems/liberals on Hoyatalk are sane people -- that the prevailing opinion is that Ed Schultz is a moron (at least with this comment, even if he might be supported for other reasons or opinions that he has).
Turning it around, if Sean Hannity or Glenn Beck ever advocated something like this -- well, first of all the uproar would be a lot louder -- but I hope that I and other conservatives would be the first ones chiming in to tell either or both of them to Shut up.
EDIT: I like Jack's answer. Well done. ;D

I suppose there is a point at which the ends justify the means (would you kill one person to save the entire planet?), but this is hardly it.
I do not want anyone in cheat in elections, period.

I will let you know after I am done voting in Wellesley, Natick, Harwich, and Chicopee. You have to drive to different locations? We just cycle around and vote again if you show your secret Democrat card - I believe it is called "seconds" in Cambridge. Boz was right - it's snowing here but the parking lot was full when I went to vote this morning.

Eddie Schultz...sheesh.
I feel I need to chime in as a liberal, Democrat, and a North Dakotan and share some background info.
He started as a sportscaster here in Fargo. First he was the Voice of the Bison (ND State) and would just rip U of ND up and down. Then he switched to be the voice of UND and then proceeded to rip NDSU. That's like Chovtkin waking up one day and becoming the SU-cks announcer.
He used to be a ranting conservative on his old local radio show. Then he became a raving liberal.
Sincerity of motive? Core beliefs? Pssh.
He should just keep his yapper shut.

No, cheating is never appropriate for either party. Period. Turning it around, if Sean Hannity or Glenn Beck ever advocated something like this -- well, first of all the uproar would be a lot louder -- but I hope that I and other conservatives would be the first ones chiming in to tell either or both of them to Shut up. I agree that there might be more reaction to it if it were Hannity or Beck, but I think that's because those two are seen as "faces" of the conservative party, or at least certain wings of/movements in the party. No one anywhere, ever, for any reason sees Ed Schultz as a spokesman for Democratic politics like Hannity and Beck are for Republicans. Now if this were Chris Matthews or Keith Olbermann, that would be comparable to Hannity/Beck.

I guess another question is whether, in the interest of transparency, Republicans will support the counting of all ballots in MA, including absentees, before the election is certified (irrespective to MA law).

I'm sure that given the very high stakes involved vis-a-vis Health Care Reform, the Republicans will want this process to be at least as transparent as the House/Senate negotiations orchestrated by Harry and Nancy.

Cheating in an election is totally unacceptable and wrong. If Schultz actually mattered I'd call on Dem leaders to condemn him, but frankly he's so irrelevant that I doubt they even noticed.
Ed Schultz, like the rest of MSNBC, is a great example of why liberals shouldn't try to imitate conservatives' methods. The Rush Limbaugh/Fox News style just doesn't work for the way liberals think.

www.politico.com/news/stories/0110/31671_Page2.html"Chris Matthews, on Tuesday, said that Democrats were facing a “disaster in their works,” and expressed the view that it was better in the old days when the party leadership would have made sure Democratic voters got to the polls. "You get them lunch, you get them a car,” Matthews said, “you’d make sure they got there and in some cases you’d be buying people to get them, not officially buying them, but getting them there as block secretaries, as block captains, you’d be getting them there with street money, legitimate but it’s a little bit old school."" What surprises me is that Chris Matthews never ran for GUSA office.

I guess another question is whether, in the interest of transparency, Republicans will support the counting of all ballots in MA, including absentees, before the election is certified (irrespective to MA law). Local CBS affiliate WBZ has a poll on the website front page: Should the new senator from Massachusetts be sworn-in before all votes are certified? --No. They should follow the usual procedures. --Yes. It's been done before and the new senator should be seated immediately. Results currently favor Yes, 65-35.

If Coakley loses, there will be 59 votes in the US Senate for health care reform. Should we take up the bill then too on the basis of this analysis?

Absolutely right on the money with that comment The Stig. I have thought the same thing many times but rarely see it commented on -- here on these posts, or in the media.
