Going into this weekend's games, the usual suspects for BE ROW are:
Rudy Gay - 37 mins., 15 pts, 5-10 FGs, 4 Rbs, 4 Asts., 2 Blocks vs. Prov. Jeff Green - 38 mins., 9 pts, 3-6 FGs, 7 Rbs, 6 Asts., 2 Blocks vs. ND Roy Hibbert - 27 mins., 15 pts, 6-10 FGs, 3 Rbs., 3 Asts., 2 Blocks vs. ND
It's close!!! The trio should have good games against St. John's and Rutgers. I'm rooting against Gay... GO HOYAS!!!

I'd say Hibbs has it by a nose right now...but we'll see what happens against SJU.

Agree. GU has a Sunday game vs. UConn's Saturday game, so we should have a good idea what the two Hoyas need.

Roy's line from the first St. John's game is not really encouraging -- 4 pts, 1 reb, 1 Asst, 2 TO, 2 Blocks -- but we'll see if he can pick it up. My guess is that given SJU's chaotic style of play, Roy's not going to see a ton of minutes in this one.
Jeff, on the other hand, had 21 pts, 9 boards, 3A/3TO, 1 block and 1 steal.

I'd say Hibbs has it by a nose right now.... Nah. We lost. Thats why Gay has to have the edge. If theyre close again this weekend, and both teams win, Gay'll get it simply because his team was 2-0 while we went 1-1. Unless Hibbert (or Jeff) clearly outplays Rudy this weekend, hes the frontrunner right now because his team was successful.

As long as UCONN wins this weekend and Gay can get double figures in scoring, he's probably going to get the award. They place a lot of emphasis (as they should) on the team going undefeated for the week. The only exceptions are when a player just goes nuts for the week.

I don't know that Gay is playing better than Jeff, but he certainly is getting more comfortable out there and beginning to show why he was so highly touted. Some of his blocks against UNC were outstanding. That said, it seems to me that he continues to make the kind of freshman mistakes that Jeff just doesn't make - forcing passes, putting the ball on the floor too much, etc. Roy makes these kind of mistakes, but not Jeff.
That said I think Gay is an incredible talent tnad he probably deserves BE ROY this week as much (or more) than anyone. It's gonna be fun to watch these guys play down the stretch.

Saturday update: Rudy Gay - 37 mins., 15 pts, 5-10 FGs, 4 Rbs, 4 Asts., 2 Blocks vs. Prov. 2nd game - 32 mins., 10 pts., 4-10 FGs, 4 Rbs., 6 Asts., 1 Blk. vs. Rutgers
Respectable numbers, but not great. It's wide open for JG or RH to step up and win it! If one of them scores 20 or more tomorros, he wins ROW. Go Hoyas!

If Roy or Jeff gets more than 15 points, they are ROTW. If both do, I hope Roy gets it, but he might be up against the well-deserved hype machine of Green considering how most BE coaches are salivating over what Green is doing on the floor.

I hope that they're both in the running...which will probably guarantee a win for GU.

Rudy Gay - 37 mins., 15 pts, 5-10 FGs, 4 Rbs, 4 Asts., 2 Blocks vs. Prov. 2nd game - 32 mins., 10 pts., 4-10 FGs, 4 Rbs., 6 Asts., 1 Blk. vs. Rutgers
Jeff Green - 38 mins., 9 pts, 3-6 FGs, 7 Rbs, 6 Asts., 2 Blocks vs. ND 2nd game – 38 mins, 20 pts, 5-10 FGs, 5 Rbs, ? Asts., ? Blocks vs. SJU
Roy is out of the running after today’s 2-point performance.
Is Jeff’s 20-point performance enough to get ROW or will the loss hurt his chances to win it?

With Hoyas losing both games this week, I doubt JG stands a chance...
Rudy Gay will be BE ROW this week

Yeah I agree. While i know this is not a Most Valuable Player award, I doubt JG gets it for the same reason that Gomes won't win BE Player of the Year.

agree spainish will have to wait till 12 noon to see....if jeff happens to get it but i think he wont... if he does i think that locks him for the rookie of the year but i dont think so... kinda like the team now ....close but no cigar go hoyas.. go jeff ... need to step it up and bring back the heart attack hoyas and get rid of the first half heat stop hoyas ...go hoyas beat nova.... anybody disagree that this is big like the biggest game all year?

I think it'll be Gay.
We should acknowledge Dexter Gray from St. John's, who in two games this week had 21 points (on 8-13 shooting), 8 rebounds, and 5 assists over two games this week.
That won't get him Rookie of the Week, but a solid performance nonetheless.
