After watching this team stuck in mud at the beginning of games, the second half showed what these Hoyas can do with one simple word:
Aggression
The ball stopped moving away from the basket and started moving towards it. When that happened, every other aspect of the offense picked up. It didn't matter if Monroe missed. If he moved towards the hoop automatically other players would follow, receiving passes or more importantly, grabbing offensive boards. Keep attacking Hoyas.

Just wish it wouldn't have taken an entire half to develop it. One disturbing trend is how soft we come out to start games. Our weak initial effort against Marquette was also arguably decisive. Shouldn't have to wait for the adversity every time to turn it on.

Shouldn't have to wait for the adversity every time to turn it on. Absolutely. I really want us to script the first couple possessions where we attack no matter what. When we did this with Roy a few years ago it would set the tone for the game. I think this team could use that same gameplan.

What a great win, and what a great second half effort, but none of that erases the fact that there is really no excuse for playing the way we did in the first half.
Missing shots is acceptable, but playing without energy and aggression, on both ends of the floor, is not a recipe for long term success. While Monroe made a difference in the second half, as one of the leaders, if not the leader, on this team, I put the bulk of the blame on his shoulders. Love the fire at the end, but we need that out of the gates!
Austin Freeman, on the other hand, carried us for much of this game, and increasingly he looks to be the go-to guy on this team, which may not be a bad thing, but the ball needs to go through Monroe (almost) EVERY time in crunch time.
I think this team will continue to grow and improve as the season progresses, but a win today was a big boost in terms of confidence, and because we NEED to protect our home court all season long.
HOYA SAXA! WE ARE GEORGETOWN!!!

Agree with Giga and Mega, but I see this game as a Season Changer.
I think the team realized just what it has to do AND just how good it can be!
And we got some decent bench minutes from Hollis and our rebouding monster -- Bennimon. Exactly what BIG JOHN ordered!
This is going to be a really fun season and we are all going to look back on this UCONN game as the turning point in the season!

By the way, what has happened to Jason Clark? He was THE MAN on this team through the first 10 games or so, and now he's in a HUGE slump?!?!
Jason - come back! We need you!

I'll be glad if Jason contributes defensively and with his occassional 3s and drives. We will need him to be on top of the Jon Scheyer types this season.
