Don't want to be in the top 10 just yet. I'd like to get there a week before the Big East Tourney.

Id be pretty surprised if we werent ranked in the top 10. Even the idiot pollsters will just go by the fact that we are undefeated and beat two ranked teams.

Doesn't matter. Next game please. Top 25 is plenty for now. We have top 10 or better potential. That's all I care about.

Agreed. We are Georgetown. That means intimidating our opponents not being intimated by high expectations or high rankings. Fully agreed. We deserve to be top 10 based on the results on the court this season. Whether that changes in the future is irrelevent, right now this is a top 10 team and should be ranked accordingly. Anything else is just anti-Hoya pro-ACC bias. And we better be ahead of Nova. They have some ok wins over Ole Miss and Dayton and Maryland. We have wins over Butler and Washington and the team that just beat them, Temple.

Actually polls do matter, even in December. It can be easier to get in the top 5 and to a lesser degree the top 10 early rather than late because if you aren't in there come February, and the teams that are there don't lose much, you can't get past them. And that matters because despite what the selection committee may admit to, the rankings do influence them... a team that has been top 10 all year is going to always be highly considered for at least a #2 seed and a consistent top 5 team will be in the forefront of the committee member's minds when looking to place the #1 seeds. So the best of all possible worlds is to get in the top 10 and then stay there all year.

I posted a link earlier that got no comment about a Baltimore TV guy ranking GU 7. Didn't notice this thread or I would have posted it here.

We won't be ahead of Villanova, so you can prepare for your disappointment now.
I'm happy with moving ahead of Villanova on Jan. 18.

Agreed. I would rather have Villanova ahead of us when we play them. The pressure will be on Scottie!

Seems to me like we'll have a good chance of cracking the top ten, not necessarily because many folks will suddenly jump us ahead of teams who didn't lose, but because we'll probably get a slight bump from voters moving us from 12 to 10, or 9 to 8, and a larger gain from voters who had kept us in the 20s (or out of the poll entirely), being forced to move us at least into the mid-teens, because of both our wins and the number of teams like OSU, Butler, Washington, A&M, Cincinnati, etc., who lost.
There were 10 AP voters who had us last week at either 20 or below (including one voter who kept us out altogether). We should get a boost of at least 50 votes from that group alone.
