Now that "all" of the games have been played, what does your ballot look like?
I know I am not being consistent on this, but right now I am going to interpret the "criteria" literally.
"Most Outstanding Player" in college football. I don't know how many games I have seen this year, but lots. Without a doubt the most outstanding player that I have seen this year is a "boy named Suh." I'm not even going to pretrend to try to spell his first name, but I have seen at least 4 Nebraska games, and in every single one of them, there is no doubt that if you were watching the game and asked the question, "who is the best player on the field?" the answer would have to be Suh in all four of them. I can only presume that was most likely the case in the other games.
My second place vote would go to C.J. Spiller. In much the same way, I think he was clearly the best player on the field in the Clemson games that I saw. His impact all over the field as a runner, receiver and returner. He's simply outstanding.
My third vote would go to ... and I hate to say this, since I hate Notre Dame, but my third vote would go to Golden Tate. He was the dominant receiver and the go-to guy. Unfortunatley, I saw too much of a number of Notre Dame games. I don't like them a bit, but for all of the hype for Clausen that popped up at times during the season, for the most part, I saw catches that were better than the throws. The kid earned my vote.
Honorable mentions to Ingram and Gerhart. In fairness, I didn't watch many Stanford games, but the defenses in the Pac 10 are still somewhat uninspiring. Biased? Probably. I admit that. But Ingram was consistent for the most part, that Auburn game not withstanding. But even though he had a bunch or multipurpose yards in the SEC title game, most of those came from great blocking and poor defense, not great running. Don't get me wrong, he's a good player, but I don't think he was clearly the better player watching the game. In the case of Suh, Spiller and Tate, I don't think that's the case. In all three of those cases, I think most everyone would clearly say that those three were the best player on the respective fields.

How does Golden Tate compare with Percy Harvin? It seems to me that they have similar body types and great burst, but I don't know Harvin well enough to really tell. I'm just wondering about an "undersized" Tate on Sundays.

I'd go with Suh. I think the Heisman wildly ignores defensive players, so when you get a dominant one in a year full of blah offensive players (esp. blah at the QB position), he's be my guy.

Toby Gerhart, Stanford. Totally biased here, but take a look at his numbers. Incredible.
Will be beyond Editeded if he does not at least get an invite.

Gerhart. Did you see what he did against USC and Cal?

Gerhart. Did you see what he did against USC and Cal? Nope, and neither did any of the sports writers

Three guys had a chance going in to Saturday. The two quarterbacks stunk. Ingram had three TD's and a 69 yard run after a 1 yard pass. Game over.

I think Ingram will get it by virtue of the W over Florida, but that was his first 3 rushing TD game of the year. Gerhart had 3 FIVE times, including the last four games of the year, against Oregon, USC, Cal and ND. Gerhart's got 26 TD runs to Ingram's 15. And 3 200-yd games to Ingram's 1. It's really a no-brainer.

Gerhart's numbers put Ingram's to shame. Maybe I'm underrating Ingram, but to me he looks like just another very good, solid running back, not exceptional. At least not yet.
If Gerhart doesn't win (and I don't think he will), I'd love to see Suh win. I wonder if there's a groundswell for him. It would be great to finally see a defensive player win the Most Overhyped Award in Sports.

Ingram will win, Suh should. I'll be conventional and put Gerhart 2 and Ingram 3 (remember, only vote for top 3).

Suh will never win even though it is true. The only chance is that, while no one say Gerhart against USC, everyone saw Suh against Texas

Aside from the left coast bias against Gerhart -- which is totally illegitamate in my opinion -- I think it's important to think of the opposition. Stanford played the likes of Washington, Washington State, USC, the Oregon Schools and Notre Dame. None of those are imposing defenses and most downright stink. Ingram put up his numbers against the likes of LSU, Tennessee and Florida. I think that is significant. And lastly, yes, even though it's an individual award in a team sport, I do think that winning a conference championship and being undefeated matters.

Mr. Suh!!! Yes I'm biased. After him I don't know between Gerhart and Ingram. McCoy better finish dead last though.

Gerhart: 1736 yards on 311 carries, 26 TDs Ingram: 1542 yards on 249 carries, 15 TDs Yes, Gerhart bests Ingram in total numbers. But the argument from the SEC folks is going to be that Ingram had more yards per carry and was hurt by playing in "the best conference in CFB" and on a team with other TD threats. My ballot (you get three votes, BTW): 1. Gerhart 2. Suh 3. Ingram I also thought Spiller should have made it to NYC, but then again this is a wide open year with a lot of candidates. Can't send everyone to the DAC.

Mr. Suh!!! Yes I'm biased. After him I don't know between Gerhart and Ingram. McCoy better finish dead last though. I thought that McCoy lost it on Saturday. He threw 3 picks and singlehandedly tried to let the clock run out. For what it's worth though, Tim Brando still thinks that McCoy will win it. He thinks that Tebow's invitation means that southern votes will be split costing Ingram key support from his strongest area. He also thinks that Gerhart will own the west, but that McCoy will probably get the most #2 votes from the west. I disagree. I think that Tebow being invited simply means that there weren't the 3 people with runaway voting leads over the others. I think Tebow probably got a fair share of #2 and #3 votes, but I don't see him pulling almost any votes away from Ingram. I bet when it's all said and done, there will just be a much narrower gap between the #3, #4 and #5 finishers.
