It's Cafe 31 time!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woo-hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now Butler isn't as good as advertised but they are aggressive and patient. So the Hoyas have to man up here and take care of the ball.
Dare I say it, but Butler kind of needs this. They're running out of chances to pick off potential NCAA teams and they're us and OSU away from having to earn the Horizon bid. It's early, but this is important for both teams.
And it's Cafe 31 time. Did I mention that?

Need to close out on their shooters. Luckily they're shooting worse from 3 compared to last year. Need to play our A game, or at least B+/A-. Here's a link to their messageboard: buhoops.yuku.com/

This game should tell us a lot about our team...I hope. But yeah, I'm just posting as an excuse to say that I can't wait to see everyone at Cafe 31 on Tuesday!

We win it means nothing. We lose it means nothing. The way we play this game will teach us a lot about our team, not the final outcome. Lets focus on rebounding and perimeter defense this game and try to walk out of the Garden with a W.

Respectfully, we lose a close game it may mean little, but we lose with poor defense it suggests our defense was over-rated and we look better than we are after playing cupcake games. We lose with poor offense and defense, it suggests we have alot of work to do. Alternatively we win with good defense and keep them with low scoring, few rebounds and control our turnovers it suggests our defense is back. If we score with guard layups and big man layups and few but wide open three pointers it suggests we are back on our way to having fun as fans watching our team having fun playing the game the way Red Auerbach knew it could be played. Fun in winter and spring would be great after thinking fun was coming followed by a spring of depression last year. So while this is not a final game, it is and must be a stepping stone and all the fans on the board will be happy.

Not whether we win or lose. If we win with poor defense and bad rebounding it means the same as if we win with poor rebounding and and bad defense.

The Big East is not particularly strong so we just need to be good enough to beat not great teams and learn. Remember 2001? Good pre-season, good draw and 25-8. That's what we're looking at here. Now we should beat Butler 1/5 through the season, but it's not a big deal. Except it will make me upset drunk versus happy drunk.

So, in summary, what I've taken from the above discussion is: it's not WHETHER you win or lose the game; it's HOW you win or lose the game; and, finally, the moods of inebriates MATTER.
So far; so good.

Is this game going to be televised nationally, or regionally in NY?

I think we have to view this game together with Washington. If we lose both, regardless of how we play, that is not a good sign and will hurt badly come tourney selection time unless we finish something like 12-6 in the Big East. Both Butler and Washington have shown that they are solid teams but not great (much like most of the top 20 it seems). I'd be happy splitting the two, and Butler at MSG sounds like an easier game to me than going to California to play Washington, especially given each of those teams' strengths and weaknesses. So Go Hoyas - our bulldog is better than theirs!

After 6 games, the Hoyas are now averaging 13.5 ppg from their bench. That's the kind of production we haven't seen in a couple of years, and given the growing confidence of Hollis and Henry, and the little energy bursts from Vee and Jerelle, hopefully we'll see it continue as the season turns toward larger challenges.

An ugly win against a very likely NCAA Tournament team will always look good to the Committee. A win is a win. Rebounding, defense (vs. perimeter shooting and vs. penetration for easy baskets) and free throws will be key. Unless we have a 20-point advantage, thinking ahead to Washington is useless.
Go Hoyas!

Playing in MSG versus playing in Indianoplace is a big advantage for the Hoyas. Close to a home game. They are familiar with the gym, hoops, etc and should have a much bigger fan turnout than Butler.
GO HOYAS!!!
