Should be a good game to continue working on post play, since they give 20-25 minutes each a game to a 6'11 and a 6'8 guy.

Don't need a blowout win... instead, would like to see: - For the first 10-15 minutes, dominating play by the starters/Hollis, followed by some combination of the following:
- Greg only shooting with his right hand. - 20+ minutes for Henry (including at least 4-5 FGA) - 15+ minutes for Vee - 10+ minutes for Benimon and Nikita

Would love to see 40 minutes of solid defense - seems our effort is better this year, but we still have a spell or two every game where we let up some.

We win easily. We could not play greg, chris, and austin at all and still win by double digits. This AU team appears that bad right now. They lost to maryland eastern Shore on saturday. that's bad. That's a team that's never gotten above 300 in the RPI. UMES is terrible and AU lost by 7. I wouldn't be surprised inthe least if howard beat them tonight.

American is, um, really bad.
They might play with a little fire early because of the whole aspect of our schools' proximity, but I don't see us winning by less than 20 and feeling very good about it unless our top 6 guys only get 20-25 mins each, or we try some crazy new things.
I expect to see more of the same development we have seen the last two games, and maybe some new/other things here and there. Nice to have three tune-up games in a row to do some building.
Looking for: * more solid minutes from Hollis, Vee, Sims, and Benimon * reducing turnovers * continue to work on rebounding * run the offense * play within ourselves, let the game come to us * perimeter D

At risk of jinxing us. The Hoyas have won 20 straight home games against non conference opponents( not including mcdonough games it's 22 if you include those) The last time we lost at home to a non conference opponent was the Oregon game back in 2006-2007. We'll put the streak on the line with Duke in January. Arguably Old dominion if we include mcdonough games.

According to the Times of Trenton, the Mercer County Community College will be playing Frederick (Md.) Community College at noon at the Verizon Center before our game...thoughts? Has this happened before? tinyurl.com/yz2mcx5

I, for one, am glad they won last night. Bad or not, I'm glad we're not seeing a hungry, angry, winless team...not that they won't still have something to prove.
EDIT: Oh my god...don't tell anyone I misspelled "won" as "one." Man, I am just so 'CUSE today.

Has this happened before? tinyurl.com/yz2mcx5This is a favor to Howard Levy, the head coach of MC Cubed, as it is called in some NJ circles. Levy, a graduate of Princeton, became a volunteer assistant coach in the Princeton program and served on JT3's staff. At some point, he became a full assistant, and where that falls on the timeline is not in my brain. Levy is the founder of a NY apparel company called Hypnotic Hats, which, on paper, sounds a lot like Zubaz (spelling?).

That being said, I'll be at both. Should be easier to find me and say hi at the first game than the second!

They should run the system, run the system, and run the system until they are totally immersed in it. Whether we like it or not, that's what JTIII is going to coach. Last year it seemed the team never had confidence in it and it showed. Also, continue the new found intensity in rebounding. That's old school Hoya. It's been said many times before, that rebounding is 90% desire.

we always talk about "trying" things in these tune up games to get ready for the regular season. So i was wondering in addition to experimenting with lineups and what not does anyone on the board think we will ever try some kind of a press?
I can't remember if JT III has ever said anythign about it...like he doesn't believe in it. I just think we have the athelete's to have one. Either the full court extended 2 -3 which doesn't really leave you open to fast break's...OR a full court trap that has its risks and rewards.
We can debate the +'s and -'s all day about pressing - but there is little to argue with the fact that in spots it can help any team. That is my take anyways. And Big John did it ALL the time.
I just don't get why in the 4 or 5 years of JTIII we've never seen a press?
Thoughts?

Nothing solid, but my impression is that JT's biggest focus is on playing strong half-court defense (whether man or zone), and that the press makes it more difficult to get into strong defensive position if/when the press is broken.
