They reported it on PTI today. That's good enough for me.
Good luck, Pat. They are one sorry-ass team, but you deserve a shot as a head coach.

Beat me too it. But i guess PTI was on like 6 hours ago. Pat should definately get seriously considered. There was that article over the summer about how he doesnt understand why he has gotten his shot after working hard and well as an assistant for many years. It would interesting to see what kind of offense and defense he lays out. But you could be certain that team would have great big men (I mean look what he did with Dwight Howard)

jgalt... on the flip, you never know with NY area teams. The Knicks thought AI would be a detriment to what they're trying to build. They're building what exactly? I'd love to see Pat get a more legit shot with an actual team but, viewed differently, if a team as bad as the Nets (there isn't another one) gives Pat an opportunity, he can really show what he can bring. I'm all for it and might actually tune into a Nets game if it goes down. The Nets will choose Kiki Vandeweghe.-Adminsports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4701553

OK, this is just hilarious. The Nets could consider a pretty well proven assistant coach, who has the respect of players across the league and can coach up big men, and who is actually interested in coaching their sorry team.Instead they go with a guy who has been a pretty lousy GM, who seems to have very little interest in the job and who is going to require a "co-coach." (What is a co-coach exactly? Is it like a driving instructor with a separate steering wheel and pedals?) The Nets deserve what they get. You can do better, Patrick.

I thought the Nets were bad before this. Oh wait. They were.
Boz is right. Pat can do better. After all, it's not easy to stop a trainwreck that's already happening.

Too bad for Patrick, but this decision is fairly predictable: The Nets struggle (even more than the rest of the league) financially, so asking their own GM to take a stab as Head Coach likely does NOT mean a new salary for the franchise. As for the new salary w/ Del Harris, I am certain he comes w/ a lower price tag than Patrick---MUCH lower w/ the title of "co-coach". Finally, as noted above, the entire Nets franchise is a joke. Until they get their new arena (in NYC, mind you), they will remain a laughing stock.
Pat deserves, and I feel will get, his opportunity.

(What is a co-coach exactly? Is it like a driving instructor with a separate steering wheel and pedals?) I think its like a co-manager of office operations. But does he have the authority to fire people? Will he have to make an example out of Chris Douglas-Roberts for playing Tetris and not reorganizing all the contacts into Outlook.

Keep in mind the Nets are in the process of being sold, so their front office would be doing anyone they brought in a huge disservice for when new management cleans house. PE should be grateful this isn't the opportunity he got, because it would do serious damage to his ability to get another head coaching job in the NBA down the road. In fact, the Nets would have been better off just keeping Frank until the end of the year, especially given all the injuries they have.
