Perhaps the first recruit for the 2010 school year is one of women's basketball recruits. But she is a multi-talented athlete, who I hope can be persuaded to participate in track and field in the spring.
From guhoyas.com: Andrea White, a forward out of Lancaster High School. White is an athletic player who flew under the radar before joining the Boo Williams Elite squad. She averaged 23.2 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 4.0 steals per game as a junior. Her athleticism will come in handy in the paint for the Hoyas, White is a talented track & field athlete holding Virginia state titles in long jump, high jump and triple jump.

Saw that Georgetown got Joanna Stevens of Blacksburg VA, a top 25 XC runner. She should add depth to the XC team as a freshman(top5-7). She has a twin sister, a top10-15 xc runner who is also choosing between Gtwn and UVA.
Unfortunately Gtwn lost out to Washingto for the nations top distance runner Megan goethals--she probably would have made Gtwn a top 5 xc team next year.
On the positive side, looks like we picked up another elite MA runner in Jenna Davidner. She finished 2nd behind Emily Jones for the Mass title last year. She was 11th at Footlocker regionals last year. Emily Jones won it and Kirstin Kaspar finished 7th. Looks like she has been injured this season.

Davidner has roughly similar pr's to recent mid distance recruits like kirsten kasper/rachel schneider etc. She should add depth to the XC team, but she'd be competing most likely for a 5-7 spot as a freshman along with the other freshman recruit stevens + Kasper/Schneider etc. The women next year would be helped if Renee Tomlin came back for a 5th xc season, but I have no idea whether she would do that. I guess their line up would be Infeld, McCafferty, Jones, (Tomlin) +Kasper/Schneider/Stevens/Davidner. Hard to say where that lineup would finish. They probably have top 10 talent, but only Infeld(Tomlin) have performed under pressure at the big meets. The top distance womens xc recuits are pretty much gone, so I suspect that the women's recruiting will focus on replacing Tomlin/Whalen in the 800-1500 distances.
Mens XC talent was weak this yr and recruiting a lot of distance talent last yr who redshirted this yr, so I don't expect much in the way of big men's xc recruits.

Gtwn recruit Joanna Stevens ran the top time in the USA at the 1000m and the # 2 time at 1600 over the wknd. Her twin sister going to UVA ran the US #2 and #1 times in the same events!

Looks like Gtwn also landed 800 meter elite(last yr's indoor natl champ) Billy Ledder. His father was also a Hoya track standout--this is a big get for Gtwn. He has run 1:51 as a jr and has good range 400-1600.

Guhoyas reported that we signed Emily Menges as a soccer recruit, who will also run track. She was a 56/2:08 400/800 runner as a jr. She is a nice complement to our more distance oriented recruits.

saw we just signed another women's 400/800 recruit--Becca Deloache out of North Carolina. She ran 56/2:11 as a jr--seems to have some speed for a mid distance runner with a 25 sec pr at 200, so hopefully she has good upside in the 800. Similar to Emily Menges in terms of times--who is a dual soccer + track recruit.

At the High school indoor natl champs one of our women's recruits Joanna Stevens ran a blazing 10:12 in the 2mi(somewhere around 10-12th all time), as well a 4:49 for the mile placing 4th in both events. She also achored the 4 X mi relay for her school finishing second in the nation. Outstanding all around perf by Joanna Stevens. I thought that she was a pure distance runner but is also displaying serious mid distance talent as well.
Our other recruits did not fare as well in the 800(Ledder natl leader going into the race finished a disappointing 6th and Becca Deloache finished 22nd--both with much slower times than they had previously ran)

New women's recruits Cox and DaSilva are booth 400/800 runners with very good 400 speed. Like the other recruit Emily Menges they all have great 400 speed/however they have run their fastest 800 times as sophomores/juniors. Hopefully their speed will translate at the college level in the 800. Seems like the women have recruited well to replace Tomlin/Whalen, the graduating 800 runners and maybe the graduating 400 runners too.
The men have one elite 800-1500 recruit Ledder and another distance recruit Darrah--hopefully they will get additional men to replace their many graduating seniors like Bumbalough. Without some additional high elite mens mid distance recruits the squad will be pretty thin at the elite mid distance level despite last years big men's distance recruiting class

Men add elite recruit Tyler Anyan 4:10 1600/8:52 3200.
Note: unlike our other men's recruits he is having a big senior outdoor campaign, steadily improving. He has improved incredibly over his last couple of hs years which is a great sign--though he does not have any fast 800 times, which is slightly concerning re his upside, though it seems like he just doesn't run the event--lets keep our fingers crossed that he stays on his current steeply improving trajectory.
