Will be held at Princess Anne, MD this Saturday. The first two teams will advance automatically to the NCAA championship race. The men have a good chance of winning the regional race and an outstanding chance of finishing in the top two. The women, on the other hand, hope to finish in the top five, because this region has five of the top 12 teams in the nation (the women standing #12). So Villanova, West Virginia, Princeton, and Penn State will all be tough. The women, therefore, are looking for an at-large bid, and they should have that wrapped up, especially if they finish in the top five.

Very unofficial: 2nd hand info, not official whatsoever: Gt'wn and nova 1-2, not sure of the order. Princeton back in like 5th or 6th (top runner Leung dropped out early).

The men have indeed won the Regionals and thus move on to the NCAA champs. They scored 38 pts with their first four getting top 10 places. Nova was 2nd with 48 pts. The Hoyas need a top 5th man to do well at nationals. Michael Banks did not run today, so I hope he is able to come back at nationals. A. Taye did not run again; perhaps he is injured. Like last year Andrew Bumbalough won the race.
1. Bumbi 31.41.6 3. Krisch 31:42.3 5. Denin 31:47.2 9. Miller 32:03.4 - good to see Levi is up at the top; he should continue to improve 20. James Grimes 32:39.3 48. Sandy Roberts 54. TC Lumbar 33:41.3

The women finished 5th, just two points behind Penn State. If Katie McCafferty ran today, they might have been 3rd.
3. Emily Infeld 20:32 - looking to be All-American this year in XC 16. Natasha LaBeaud 21:21 23. Emily Jones 21:44 25. Kirsten Kasper 21:52 34. Marcie Sobrinski 22:31 37. Rachel Schneider 22:40 41. Lise Ogrodnick 22:47
Nova 23, Princeton 77, WVA 82, PSU 98, GU 100. Now the women will have to wait for an at-large bid.

Men seem to have exceeded expectations--If Levi Miller makes another jump in performance like he did this week and Banks comes back they could do well at the NCAA's.
Considering they did not have McCafferty the women did very well--hopefully she will be back at full strength for the ncaa's. If she is not at full strength the women will be hard pressed to replicate last yrs performance. Emily Jones seems like she struggled a bit today, but Infeld put in a big time performance and should have a shot at a top 20 NCAA perf, certainly an all american perf in any case. She has gradually become an elite XC runner in addition to being an elite middle distance specialist. It will be interesting to see if her performances in XC and I guess improved endurance help her on the track in the 1500..

Good to see that the women qualified; I think it was pretty certain that they would qualify, but it is always good to get that bid.

Interesting facts about the regionals. On the men's side the Hoyas and Nova were the class in the field, both scoring less than 50 points and having the first five individuals over the line. The next placed team, St. Joe's, had 181 points. On the women's side the top five teams scored 100 points or less, while the 6th place team scored 246 points.
