a double ot loss 80-79 and i am not going to blame this on the mystery travel that was called on aaron miles in the final seconds. i blame it on JR Giddens for putting up rediculous shots and missing them all. for not missing free throws. for keeping them in the game by missing little shots. i thought a team with senior leadership wouldnt do this. this could drop us to a two seed. at least they got almost a week to prepare for iowa state.
oh man am i frustrated. i guess i got spoiled with KU and the HOyas always pulling out the tight ones.

Your KU boys are blowing it for us, now we have to deal with these Texas Tech clowns in the top 25 for an extended period of time. Also, Miles did travel. If he had simply held his ground he would have been alright but instead he tried to get out of there and stumbled. Even if he hadn't traveled the ball would have probably been tied up and Tech had the possession arrow in their favor.

it was not a travel, he got absolutly raped. watch the replay, and see how many hands are all over his arms. i understand trying to let them play in a double OT game, but that was uncalled for. i understand where you are coming from with texas tech getting in the top 25. but i felt that texas tech or iowa state was going to be the 5th team from the big 12 in the tournament. there is no chance the big 12 gets six and they very well may get four with texas droping big time.
sorry i am venting here.

I really dont know if it was a foul. One guy hit him on the arm a little but it was not even close to getting "raped". There were a lot of hands on the ball, a little bit of contact on his forearm and he tried to get away from it all and stumbled away. My first reaction to it was that it was a terrible call and that he got fouled. However, after seeing the replay I think it was Miles' fault and the contact on the forearm wasn't enough to be called a foul there.

in the wise words of Will Farrell in Anchorman, "agree to disagree." miles did make a few critical errors in the OT stages, with dumb passes that led to tournovers. he is probably the most underrated point guard in the nation. he is such a pure passer and this was one of his bad ten minute stretches that he has.
well not a very happy way to have my 100th post.

I think everytime I see a call like that it's home cookin'. Sorry, but the ref did not see a slow-motion replay of light arm contact. When guys corral the ball like that basically trying to foul, the call almost always sends the guy to the line. Details of the replay aside, at Kansas or a neutral site he shoots two.

agree GIGA. i believe it was Hightower who made the call and he is one of the most respected referees in college basketball. couldnt help but reminice to the "mystery trip," called against drew all at Pitt in 02 i believe. stuff like this happens. referees are human.

Giddens is an imbecile. He's an average (and that's being generous) shooter but terrific slasher because of his athleticism, so he always shoots it.
The guy can jump over the hoop, yet it seems like he wants to play to his opponents level and make it even or some crap.
Watching him play is miserable....I can't believe Self keeps encouraging him to shoot....I really, really don't get the guy...
They ought to have Galindo and Giddens switch if Giddens got a bit bulkier and better rebounded.....

i thought the miles call was the right one. miles panicked and travelled. plus, he feigned getting poked in the eye which has to tell you something.
