Well, now of course everybody's glad we didn't get him. Good luck and happy trails.

One of a number of recruits which got far too much attention on the board, beginning with Antric Klaiber way back when and proceeding through Derrick Payne, Dennis Lattimore, Mate Milisa, John Gilchrist, Anthony McClain...

Antric Klaiber! Great pull. Talk about going back into the vault! A thread of recruits who caused board meltdowns by "snubbing" the Hoyas but then turned out to be enormous busts would be fun... I'd add Korleone Young off the top of my head.

Further down in that linked article in the original post: Did I miss this announcement? I don't see him on the current GUHoyas list of bball coaching staff.

This is a complete mess. He is trying to go play overseas in China right now. He doesn't have the hype of Brandon Jennings (which is why he can't get a contract with a European team) and now he is going to have to go play in China. This kid will never see an NBA floor. I wish him all the best but he is going to be floating around the world playing ball from Manila to Gothenburg.

Too bad the old Latavious W thread was locked. It could've gone for 10-15 more pages.

This is waaaay too sketchy for my taste.... sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4345897What's the difference between a "consultant" and an agent? I guess the pay for players at Memphis isn't so good now that Calipari left.

I guess the pay for players at Memphis isn't so good now that Calipari left. Not even that, just that his academics are so bad that he would not be able to be an NCAA athlete next year most likely. I don't think it's nearly as much of a choice as people make it seem. If he wasn't going to be able to get qualified to play college ball next year, after his 5th year of high school, at a place called "Humble Christian Life Center", then it probably wasn't going to ever happen and you have to look at alternatives to college. Wasn't like he could really prep another year. So I understand trying to play for pay somewhere, wherever it may be, and hoping that he improves enough to move up to a better league and maybe get a shot at the nba some day. He's definitely not Jennings and may never see the NBA, but he's probably good enough to make a living playing basketball somewhere. Clearly school wasn't for him, so might as well try to make a living doing what you do best, wherever it takes you.

I feel bad for Latavious, I got the impression he was a good kid that was being misguided by other people around him. Good luck to him wherever his skills take him, hopefully to the NBA one day.

Prue may not be a coach at Georgetown. He could be retained in another capacity.

The legend continues:
Per RealGM, "The Tulsa 66ers selected Latavious Williams, a 6-8 forward, the first-ever player selected in the NBA D-League Draft directly from high school with the last pick in the first round."

This guy's story is not unfolding very well..he should have went to college. I dont see him doing well against the competition in the DLeague. Most of the guys there are super athletic without all the fundamental elements, just like him! His athleticism is a dime a dozen at the league level. Hope he develops a niche there that can carry him. I would say he has his youth to market, but he was already a holdback and by the time he becomes eligible for the draft, he will be like 21!
