We need a big road win, either tomorrow, or even better at UConn. Everybody else has just about got one now. I'm tired of being the Big East team everybody forgets.

We got one, at Pitt. It just happened so long ago no one remembers and it didn't help that Bucknell did it right before us a few nights earlier.

Pitt is a top 15 team, that is a huge road win for us at this point. However, I agree that it would be helpful to pick off either ND or UCONN.

Speaking of nice road wins, Davidson wins at CofC tonight so with Wofford and Citadel left, it looks to be just about a done deal for the Wildcats.
That's a nice bonus for Charlotte and the Hoyas, both of whom got wins at Davidson this year and now are looking at tournament bids.
If Davidson goes 19-0, winning the conference tourney, who wants to play them in the first round? It's one of those cases of a team going so long without losing it forgets how.

Well, Syracuse blew a 58-50 lead, and I'm not sure I concur with the sentiments in this thread supporting Pitt. If the goal was for us to finish with a top 3 seed, the Pitt win puts more pressure on us to defeat Notre Dame Wednesday, in order to avoid dropping to fifth (yikes! wouldn't have we considered fifth place fantastic just a few short weeks ago?). A Pitt loss would have been their fourth, and assured our remaining seeded ahead of them even if we lose to ND.
I guess we just have to beat ND on Wednesday.

hoyarooter - looking at from an RPI standpoint. The stronger Pitt is, the better that road win is for us. Also, I see no reason why we still can't win the BE regular season conference championship, so I take every loss by a team ahead of us as a good one.

We have road wins against Pitt and Nova, both currently ranked in the Top 25. I'd love to sweep Notre Dame and it would certainly help the postseason cause, but I'm not sure a win at the Joyce Center would outshine either of those previous victories.

It wouldn't. But at 9-3 (and frankly probably 10-3), nobody can pretend we're the 7th Big East team any longer.

I think that GTown pulling out the BE championship is too optimistic, at least where we stand right now. First off, we would need to win out to have a decent chance (this is the biggest problem in my opinion). Then we would need Cuse to lose one more time (pretty likely as they have a tough schedule left) and we would need BC to lose 3 games. Now, I think BC is nowhere near as good as their record, but I also think they are a solid team. I don't see them going 3-3 down the stretch. The odds of GTown winning out, Cuse losing another game, and BC going 3-3 to finish the season are a not very good. If we go 4-1 to finish the season (which would be AMAZING), then we would need 2 losses by Cuse and 4 by BC. And that's just not going to happen.

What are you talking about 4 and 5 losses by BC? BC has one conference loss now. We've got 3. In order to avoid a tie, they'd need to lose 3 if we won out.

I may be killed for this but I wanted Cuse to win. At this point my hatred for BC far outweighs that for the orange. I was rooting for Cuse to win out so BC wouldnt get the regular season BE title in their last year, now it looks like BC has to blow up NOT to win it, their remaining schedule isn't tough besides their game with cuse. Just my 2 cents.
Our win at pitt is looking better every day though....

I was getting the # of total losses we'd need them to have and how many more they would need to get their confused. I edited my post-but I still don't ink it's likely.

Don't sweat BC winning it. Their schedule has been pretty soft. Syracuse will beat them Saturday night, and then be only one game back, holding the tiebreaker.
Besides, who remembers the regular season champion? All that matters is the tourney champ and the deep NCAA run.

mcnamara really sucks. three possessions down one and he chucks a three every time when you have warrick down low. he took a 25 footer without even letting warrick see the ball. he is boeheims little pet, so jimmy won't ever yell at him like he does eveyone else. all i hear from boeheim and the fans is how he is the best clutch player ever at syracuse. i'd take sherman or pearl every time over the rat chucker.

Krauser is tough as nails. The man is beyond clutch. The guy has ice in his veins. I think Bilas made the comment one time that Krauser needs to think every minute in the game is the last minute in the game, and then he would make every shot. Krauser is amazing.
McNamara doesn't suck. Pittsburg defended him well. Same with UCONN. They forced him to take tough shots. Syracuse has been exposed with these two losses to Pitt and UCONN at home. McNamara is the only one that can get off his own shot. If you defend him well, Syracuse doesn't have a chance. Warrick is a wing player with a big man game. If the ball isn't fed to him, he isn't much of a factor on offense. Pace is good with his only one-move shot. McCroskey is not a consistent impact player. Edelin is gonna half to step up for them, if they are going to make it far in the tournament.

Krauser was absolutely AWFUL in the first half. He threw up some ill-advised threes that came nowhere near the rim. Much better late, though. McNamara does suck - I have no idea what you're watching if you think the he's the only guy on that team who can get his own shot. 80% of his shots are catch-and-shoots off screens.
