www.bracketography.com/Andy Force has us holding steady as a six seed in his 2/15 bracket. He has us playing in Nashville, which would make a decent road trip from DC and an enjoyable weekend of southern hospitality.

Here's something I've been wondering-if we make the tournament and are playing within driving distance, will Hoya Blue set up a road trip, or will the students be on their own for tickets and traveling? Will GTown have student tickets available?

TBird, I don't think anyone wants to upset the basketball gods. If we're in position for a bid, I am 75% sure that I'll go regardless of any organized road trip, but I will try my best (with maybe 007, you, CA, et al.) to push the issue with McDonough et al. so we can get some sort of trip together.

I don't want to anger the bball gods either-I knocked on wood many times after typing that post. I was just curious, b/c I also plan on going if we make it, barring any unforseen circumstances.
What has happened in the past with tournament trips? I know 2001 was in Boise, so that's not reachable except by air, but how about previous years?

(Almighty basketball gods, I apologize for this message) I'm not sure if anyone went to Boise in 2001 besides the Band. Besides being a plane-only destination, it's expensive and difficult to get a flight into Boise, Idaho. But I did know a few people who made it to Anaheim for the Sweet 16, which is an easier destination to book flights to the vicinity of. Just out of curiosity, what qualifies as "decent road trip" distance for you guys? Coincidentally, one of my friends who graduated from Florida had plans to road trip from DC to Nashville for a UF-Vanderbilt game last month, but it fell through at the last minute. But it's definitely within your grasp--not too, too long if you've got multiple folks to drive. I'm just thinking, depending on how crazy you are, with first round sites in Charlotte, Nashville, Worcester, and Cleveland, you've got a good sporting chance at a trip that's do-able. Better start saving now, those tickets aren't cheap or easy to come by...if it comes to that of course. I would not count on any help whatsoever from the school however.

[Bows to basketball gods]
I've been checking airfar to Nashville, and I've been able to find roundtrips to $150. I figure one could probably find a motel for rather cheaply if folks go 4 to a room. The real expense might be the game tickets.

The real expense might be the game tickets. Nashville happens to be one of the sites that hasn't sold out of their own ticket allotment yet. The going rate is $150 per ticket, which I remember from when MCI hosted the 1st/2nd round in 2001-2; everyone who had student tickets in 00-01 got an application in May 01, but why even bother when you knew by rule GU couldn't be placed there? Of course, IF IT COMES TO THIS WITH THE POSTSEASON COMPETITION THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED, you'd probably be going through the school for your tickets. On the plus side, I can't think of much better than getting to watch 6 college games of such importance in person over two days. Watching all of them on a dish in South Florida on Spring Break is still pretty good though.

you will be able to get tix through GU. Every school gets an alottment so it doesnt matter that the site will already be sold out. students season ticket holders and high level hoop club donors get first shot. the quick turn around on tournament games means that most "real people" are not able to travel to the games so that leaves tickets ripe for students. as a student getting tix to atlanta in 96 was not a problem and as an alum i was able to get tix in anaheim by calling GU the morning they became available.
