6' 8" PF/C from San Diego Hoover HS has Georgetown on his list along with Alabama, Arizona State, UCONN, Florida, Kansas, North Carolina, UCLA, Virginia, Washington and Wyoming. Ranked the #5 center in the class of 2011 according to Scout.

This kid was about 11 schools listed. My guess is he goes to Kansas or Washington (way too early to tell). Keep in mind we are recruiting Rakeem who plays the same position.

Apparently, he is now down to 7 schools, and Hoyas are still on the list (eliminated Arizona State, Wyoming, UVA and North Carolina).
Kansas, Washington, UCLA, Alabama, UConn, Florida, and Georgetown still in it.

Greg Hicks review from Pump Spring Tournament, where Chol was listed at 6'7":
"Chol didn’t get a lot of touches in the game we saw, but his body has filled out considerably since the last time we saw him. He’s much thicker through the chest and shoulders, while still retaining his quickness and explosiveness. His left-hand jump hook is a weapon and he’s also shown a little better touch now facing up to about 15-17 feet. He’s also a very good passer out of the post."

Rivals had this to say about Chol's play Friday night:
"Joining Dream Vision this year is yet another five-star, Angelo Chol. Chol didn't have one of his better outings on Friday night, but he is a legitimate 6-foot-8 with a significant amount of bounce, a good frame, and some solid feel for how to play out of the post in terms of making a post move or passing to set up a bucket. Add in that he is a shot blocking threat, and there is a lot to like about Chol though he did struggle to finish near the hoop."

According to Telep, Chol narrowed his list to five: Hoyas, Kansas, UCONN, Washington, and Alabama. Geography will not play a role as he is thousands of miles from his original home anyway.
This one is interesting...Alabama doesn't scare me and my guess is Kansas has higher aspirations at his position. So could come down to UCONN, Washington and Georgetown. Not sure how high Chol is on our board, but seems like Georgetown could be more of a realistic option than I would have originally thought.

Not really sure how you can have much higher aspirations than Chol. He's the real deal. He's a top 20 recruit. I can tell you that Kansas is recruiting him pretty hard (he is perhaps their top priority as a big in 2011; they are also recruiting Hopkins). But nice to be in another top 5 list.

Any combination of Christmas, Chol, O'Bryant and/or Hopkins would be very impressive.
Angelo Chol's game reminds me of Ed Davis at UNC. Doesn't get up quite as high, but has the potential to put on more weight than Davis (which would be key in the Big East).

Kansas coaches just went to see him:
Angelo Chol is down to five schools Jayhawk Slant just spoke to Hoover High School head coach Ollie Goulston and has the very latest update on Chol, the No. 19 ranked player in the 2011 class.
"Yes, Angelo has trimmed his list of schools," said Goulston. "He decided to eliminate Florida and UCLA, which means he's down to five schools. Kansas, Alabama, Connecticut, Georgetown and Washington are the final five schools Angelo is considering.
"We had a few coaches here last night for an open gym," he added. "Coach Self and Coach Townsend were two of the coaches that came to watch Angelo in the gym."
As a junior at Hoover High School, Chol averaged 16.1 points, 13.1 rebounds and 8.4 blocks per game. The Cardinals finished the year with an overall record of 27-7, including a perfect 10-0 in league play.
. . .
Most believed Chol, a native of Sudan, would opt to play for Roy Williams and North Carolina or would remain on the West Coast. However, it doesn't appear that either will take place at this time.
"I don't know why everybody assumed Angelo would stay out west," said Goulston. "I mean, he's from Sudan, so he's already far, far away from home. Our approach has always been for Angelo to building relationships with people. If the schools were in early, he decided to stay with them.
"Its always been important for Angelo to build relationships with people," he added. "He feels most comfortable with the five remaining schools on his list."

More on Chol:
"He really liked his Georgetown and UCONN visits he took in Late December, from talking to him last month he is open to leaving the west coast its sounds like its either UW, UCONN or Georgetown for him."

From Telep this weekend:
"Angelo Chol, PF, Dream Vision: The biggest change in Chol since last year is his post game development. In addition to being a great offensive rebounder, he’s now brandishes a hook shot he’s comfortable and confident with. He’s patient in the post and hawks rebounds."

From Evan Daniels from the Jayhawk Invitational this weekend:
"Angelo Chol, C, Dreamvision – A 6-foot-8, 205-pound post prospect, Chol was efficient offensively for Dreamvision, showing a jump hook as well as a face up jumper to 18-feet. Chol, who is a high level athlete that gets off the floor quickly, is a terrific shot blocker and a guy that goes after rebounds in and out of his area. He’ll need to add some strength to his slender frame, but he’s got the look of an impressive prospect."

From Rivals' Brian Snow on Friday night's TOC action:
"There is no doubting what Angelo Chol can be down the road. He runs the floor as well as any big man in the country, shows decent hands, hit an 18 foot jump shot, and is active on the glass. However with Chol everything is just flashes. He never seems to put it all together, and that was the story on Friday Night. Chol had solid moments, but overall he didn't have a huge impact on the outcome of the game."

In light of the fact that Uconn is one of the major players in Chol's recruitment it was interesting to see this on his twitter: "damn uconn bball wat y'all do?"

If hes playing in SD, does he play with Norman Powell '11, also from SD, at all?

If hes playing in SD, does he play with Norman Powell '11, also from SD, at all? They don't play at the same high school, but Powell plays on the same AAU team as Shabazz Muhammad. I wouldn't hold my breath on Chol. The impression I got from being in SoCal was that he will probably stay somewhere west of the East Coast.
