From Mike DeCourcy of Sporting News... Georgetown's January victory at Pittsburgh could be essential to the Hoyas' chances of playing in the NCAA Tournament, but it probably cost them a chance to land transfer C Hassan Fofana from Maryland. He played only 29 minutes in four games as a sophomore before deciding to look for a school that could give him more playing time. Georgetown's struggles had Fofana thinking he might be able to fill a role. However, the Hoyas' statement-making victory over Pitt caused him to reconsider. He chose Loyola (Md.), where former Maryland assistant Jimmy Patsos is working to turn around the program. linksports.yahoo.com/ncaab/news;_ylc=X3oDMTBqZHZhbTFyBF9TAzk1ODYyMjM4BHNlYwNlY2w-?slug=insidedishnotredameeyein&prov=tsn&type=lgns

I'm glad that we didn't land him then.

If he wanted to come to a program that was downtrodden and going nowhere, that's fine. If our biggest win in the BE in 2 years is the impetus for him to seek PT elsewhere, that's fine. If he doesn't want to be part of the something special that's cooking over at McDonough Arena, that's fine.
I'd rather not have him then.

Sounds like it was good he didn't come then. How he could look at our biggest win in two years, a win that declared we were on the rise again and our frontcourt and decide not to come here doesn't make much sense to me. We have two legitimate bigs-Jeff and Roy. And it was still somewhat of a stretch to call Roy a legitimate big at the time. There's lots of PT for a decent big in our lineup and the chance to be part of something special. If he doesn't want to be a part of that, well, then I wish him luck at Loyola, but I'm glad he didn't come here.

Apparently Fofana wanted to go to a program that has had a bigger turn around than ours. Loyola won it's sixth game of the season over Iona this weekend. That is six times as many victories they had last year...
Their turnaround is much bigger that ours...
Sounds like Fofana has high hopes.

I think we all thought this about Fofana. He can't play four and our starting five has more points in his last six games than Fofana had in 1 1/2 years at Maryland. So where would he play? If he's looking for big minutes, he can't get them here so it was wise for him to look elsewhere. We would have liked the depth he added but he wasn't looking to be a bench player.

Why bother bashing this guy? So he wanted more playing time than he would get here. So what? A lot of people who saw him play at Hargrave and Maryland were suggesting that he's probably not a BE caliber starter anyway. I wish him the best.
