Readin' 'riting 'rithmatic Rhyming Looks like it's a public school in Burlington, NJ -- and it was going to get the maximum increase in state aid because of its population of high risk and special education enrollment. www.nytimes.com/2007/12/13/nyregion/13schools.html?_r=2I guess it would not really be called "indoctrination" but what would you call it. Poetry to music?

Just a sad display by a misguided teacher. Whatever her politics may be, she should lay off the children.

Whether it went on before is of no moment. That film is disturbing on many levels.

Not a fan of the doings at the "Jesus camp" either BUT, was it idol-worshipping in a PUBLIC school and done on the TAXPAYERS' instructional dime? I think not. The activities at the Bernice Young school had a different kind of a setting. Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama He said that all must lend a hand [?] To make this country strong again Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama He said we must be clear today Equal work means equal pay Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama He said that we must take a stand To make sure everyone gets a chance Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama He said Red, Yellow, Black or White All are equal in his sight Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama Yes Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama The highlighted lines are almost a direct borrowing from the old tune "Jesus loves the little children" with "equal" substituted for "precious."

Both those videos show things that shouldn't have happened. The teacher in the Obama song video needs to get the sack.

If we're indoctrinating kids, can we not put his middle name in every verse and the chorus? Thanks creepy lyrics writers.

Fun fact: "Jesus Loves the Little Children" has the same melody of the fight song. Rah rah hurrah for Georgetown All the little children of the world Ere the sun is sunk to rest All are precious in His sight. Jesus loves all the Hoyas in the world.

This turned me off politically, of course (though if you look in the other thread where I first brought this up, I did not blame Obama, but the teacher).
However, I think it turned me off more from an aesthetic standpoint. And I don't blame the students. Again, I blame the teacher.
I defy anyone to convince me that this teacher, before coming up with the refrain, did not spend HOURS listening to Gwen Stefani chant "B-A-N-A-N-A-S."
She should be sent to Camp X-Ray too. (and if you're asking, "do I mean the teacher or Gwen Stefani?" my answer would be "can't it be both?")

OK, if you take away the "change" and "yes we can" parts, it's not really a bad message the children are expressing (on the other hand, why was it necessary to include those "change" and "yes we can" parts?) But regardless of any political implications, I think we all need to agree that there is just something entirely and utterly creepy about children singing or chanting anything en masse. Sorry to those of you in the minivan posse. It's just the way I feel. I like kids. I guess I just don't like big groups of them chanting at me with their sharp teeth, clipped British accents and glowing white eyes.
