I think they froze out Rivera to protest other things with the Bingo program apparently along side the issue of NCAA regs. That seems like a bit much under the circumstances. Take it up in the routine conference meetings/NCAA and let the play on the court dictate who wins awards. thequad.blogs.nytimes.com/tag/dj-rivera/Thamel's coverage should have at least been a red flag to the administration, which seemed to be caught by surprise.

Certainly this should be corrected, but the corrective process need not stop there at Binghamton or elsewhere. Contact violations occur frequently and some never hit the media. This one will get attention because of the meltdown at Binghamton and because they went ahead and made the violation public. Pete Thamel has made Broadus his target for everything wrong with college basketball for several years now and it appears that Kevin has given him enough ammunition to finish the job. I wonder what the back story is. It has to be more than Thamel's undergraduate affiliation with Syracuse.
This will reflect on Georgetown's reputation and with all respect to my moderator friends, probably belongs on the main board--especially with JT II trying to ride to his rescue. I met Kevin once in Logan as he was flying back from a recruiting trip on a game day. I thought he was a nice guy with a tough job. I am sorry for his situation and hope that he finds a way to salvage his career and learn from the experience. I fear that he will not have a second chance even as an assistant.

So they elevate the assistant coach who was primarily responsible for recruiting the recently dismissed players and yet somehow all the online commentors think that this will magically make everything better? SUNY-B isn't much for critical thinking, are they?

SUNY-B isn't much for critical thinking, are they? Come on, that's a cheap shot. Really, you can have the same policies and everything and just change the name at the top, and the new guy can win a Nobel Peace Prize.

Well, he's elevated, but I doubt he lasts. The AD is gone, the HC is gone, and the season is right now. Someone has to coach them until there's a new AD.

It looks like we should have some details this week as to the SUNY/Binghamton preliminary investigation. The article below suggests some level of public discussion to come on Tuesday. Binghamton went ahead with "Late Night Madness" on Friday. sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4568219
