I also went #4, though I don't think any will seem as good to me until we figure out a way to incorporate something inspirational that comes from the program itself (preferably the coach). Maybe we can't wait until Midnight Madness to do this, but still...some of these seem really empty compared to the bold statements III dropped early on in his tenure. I'm pretty sure Now They Know/Here We Come in 07-08 was a III quote from Midnight Madness, so not sure why we couldn't wait again... Also, I worry about not enough people realizing that #3 is a Fr. Healy quote...without that context, it is kind of odd. I kinda like #5...it's a throwback to the tone of the originals, which we've gotten away from the last few years... Yeah, but I guess the problem I have with the #5 vs. "some have forgotten / respect is back" comparison is that "some have forgotten / respect is back" seemed, both at the time and after, kind of, well, Jedi, and the tone and voice of #5 seems kind of, well, Sith.

the first quote some have forgotten was from JTIII's press conference when he was introduced as the new head coach. At least that's when he first said it. I'm between 2 and 3. I think 5 would sound better if it said fear the future or our future, not your future.

I'd just like to point out that "No Slogan, Just Business" is in fact a slogan.
Carry on

1. Seasons Pass, Hoyas Last 2. No Slogan, Just Business 3. From Conquest to Conquest, Towards the Ultimate Victory 4. Victory Now, Georgetown Forever 5. Envy Our Past, Fear Your Future None are exactly stirring-- I guess people decided to stay away from the political world, e.g., "The Fierce Urgency of Now" or network slogans ("The Place For Politics...And Basketball.") for more generic thoughts. Selection #1 sounds as if the Hoyas are last, selection #3 would take up four lines on the shirt, selection #4 is generic and selection #5 is accusative (whose future?) I'll vote for #2.

Alright, thanks to all that sent in slogans The five that we selected are: 1. Seasons Pass, Hoyas Last 2. No Slogan, Just Business 3. From Conquest to Conquest, Towards the Ultimate Victory 4. Victory Now, Georgetown Forever 5. Envy Our Past, Fear Your Future Click on the link below to vote (only open to those with a Netid) www4.georgetown.edu/uis/keybridge/keyform/form.cfm?formID=3186We're not sure exactly how long we will hold open the vote but we will warn everyone ahead of time when we have a better idea (it won't be for that long). I actually don't really mind any of these, with the exception of #1. 1. To me, this refers to our past or "passed" crappy season, which everyone would like to forget. And "Hoyas Last" could be misinterpreted to mean the Hoyas in last place. Worst choice of the bunch. 2. I like this, but as 007 pointed out, it says it's not a slogan when it actually is one. Would not make sense to people who don't know the history of the shirt, which can be good or bad depending. 3. I actually liked this even before it was pointed out that it was a Father Healy quote. A little cheesy, reminds me of a Notre Dame football shirt, but I think it reflects our tradition. Then again, kind of long, not sure how this would show up on the back of a shirt. 4. Simple, nice, but kind of meh. Could show up nice on the back of a shirt though. 5. OK, but "Fear Your Future" could be taken a lot of different ways. Not sure what I will vote for. Probably 2 or 4. Obviously there is going to be a wide variety of opinions about this, and I doubt we'll come to a consensus, so we'll just have to wait and see what gets chosen. It is interesting to see why some people like certain options more than others. EDIT: I know "Now They Know/Here We Come" came from Midnight Madness, but it seems the Athletic Department wants to get this done sooner now.

very much agree... has a very dark overtone to it.
nothing really stood out.. but i like the georgetown reference on 4#, seems in keeping with the spirit of georgetown unity and once a hoya always a hoya, no matter what the result of a point,a game, a season, etc...
the father hoya quote was a little too obscure for me. -M

Personally, I think it's about time for a re-design of the whole shirt, with a bigger TV-friendly logo on the front (and maybe a higher quality t-shirt material). I'd also like to see the shirt be a grey that matches the official team color.
But that's just me.
Given that, I feel like #3 is the best of the available choices).

I think this could be a good idea for next year, but I just hope that when this does happen we keep the gray (having it match the gray on the team uniforms would be great) and that we keep some version of the We Are Georgetown theme on the front. Change the font and logo slightly if you want, but lets keep both that phrase and logo on the front of a gray shirt in some form.

Something less congested and more to the point. Simpler and more something you could wear when you are out of college and not just at Gtown games. I have the first 2 or 3 shirts and as much as I loved them at the time and wore them to every game and all around campus, I actually never wear them now except when going to a gamewatch event. The Hoya shirt I wear now is strangely the "I Bleed Hoya Blue" navy shirt with a medium small Jack logo on the back. It was simple and classy. Perhaps a simple "We Are Georgetown" written horizontally on the front in blue and a small Jack logo on back or a basketball with a G, and we could put the slogan below it in much smaller type than we currently use (cuz I agree that it's cool to have that to identify the year the shirt's from). And completely agree with staying with the gray and trying to get it to match the team's gray. The over all idea is still great, but perhaps toning down the size of everything and not wrapping text circularly around logos so that it looks too busy. As far as the choices, maybe 2 or 4. Can't say it's an inspiring choice right now.

Isn't Ultimate Victory what you achieve when you beat Ninja Warrior? Or is it Unbeatable Banzuke?

Can't say it's an inspiring choice right now. I kind of agree with the idea that the shirt is a little too busy to wear on an everyday basis, but I felt the same way when I was at GU. The shirt is supposed to be for the students to wear to the games. It's great that we as alumni still want to own the shirts each year, but we shouldn't let the aesthetics of the shirt in a non-game context dictate what we do with its design. I do think that it might be worthwhile to move away from the slogan on the back while keeping the front the same, but if that is what HB wants to do with the shirt, the search for alternative back designs needs to begin sooner. I seem to remember a similar exchange on this board last year, along the lines of "maybe it's time to ditch the slogan, but it's too late to do it this year, so maybe for next year." Well, it is next year, and we're doing this again. What I would suggest, going forward, would be for HB to start kicking around ideas for a different back for next year once this year's design is finalized, maybe something like a big "III" with the players' numbers around it, to serve as a default. Then, if III comes out and says something awesome before it's time to order the shirts, there can be a return to the slogan for a given year. Having a non-slogan default in place relieves HB of the rush to create a slogan without much substance if Coach doesn't give us a gem, but this approach would give HB some leeway to incorporate one if he does. I remember when I got my tickets in my freshman year (the first year of the shirt) and first saw the shirt. My excitement for the season was immediately increased by the badass slogan on the back. I don't think HB should pigeonhole themselves into a position that prevents another such shirt if the opportunity arises, but I think forcing weak slogans on us every year diminishes the chance of that happening.

Front, large type, blue text on gray background: We Are Georgetown (or even just "G"[/b]) [/center] Back, in smaller print, again blue on gray: This is my Hoya shirt. There are many like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my Hoya shirt is nothing. Without my Hoya shirt, I am nothing. EDIT: Sorry, I meant to add ----> ;D

How about something along the lines of the gatorade slogan "That's G" and "It's not who you play it's how you play"
