Sweet goal by Savard in OT today.
Keep your eyes open for Vince Vaughn in his Cubs jersey at the Blackhawks game tonight - I just saw him in the Blackhawks store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago.

Sweet goal by Savard in OT today. Keep your eyes open for Vince Vaughn in his Cubs jersey at the Blackhawks game tonight - I just saw him in the Blackhawks store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. I am slowly beginning to wonder if something just a teeny bit special is going on with the Bruins in these playoffs. I don't like getting my hopes up, but that is normally a game they would've blown. And while they did let it get to OT, they came out like a blitzkreig in the extra session. So awesome that it was Savard who got the game winner. Of course, I do remind myself that this is a very shorthanded Flyers team, so that makes me come back down to earth. Still fun though.

Gill (who admittedly was brilliant this series) also bumped Knuble into Halak. Bah. I don't even want to talk about it. I don't even have any other teams to cheer for. San Jose are just chokers. Chicago were a bunch of little b*tches over the Ovechkin thing (Ban Ovechkin! Let Hossa win the series for us!), and being a Cheesehead I can't cheer for then anyways. Cheering for Detroit is like cheering for Duke, and being a Calgary fan there's no way I can cheer for Vancouver. Things aren't any better out West. The Flyers and Pens are just plain evil. There's no way I'll ever cheer for the Habs after this past week, and the Bruins come from a city that is almost as insufferable as New York when it comes to sports. Ugh. It's like every series is a meteor series. If you only root for one team Cheesehead, it has to be the Sharks. They're fairly benign -- albeit hamstrung w/the choker label -- but to boot, they have probably the most exciting player in the postseason, Joe Pavelski. Not only has his play made you forget about Thornton and Marleau (easy to do in the playoffs, I know), but he's a native Cheesehead.

The Big Pavelski won an NCAA championship on a team captained by noted pest Adam Burish while at UW. Pavelski has been awesome in these playoffs.

I watched him in high school when he was leading his team past my school's in the state semifinals. Late in that game, one of our players tried to headhunt Pavelski. On the next shift Pavelski absolutely destroyed that guy with a massive open-ice hit. The kid on our team ended up crawling to the bench. The next day he got the GWG in the championship game (a 2-0 game, with an empty netter).

Ok im back. Just had to wait for "them" to be gone. So if the East wins the cup this year does that change the "west is always better no matter what happens ever ever ever period" talk?

Not that I'm a Pens fan, but I am getting sick and tired of the friggin Canadiens! At least the Flyers won in a fairly entertaining game and force game 7. Now if that game can only go to overtime.
On Edit: I just heard about the riots in Montreal. Yeah, yeah guys ... I know you were an 8 seed and have a lot to be proud of by making the conference Finals. But ... you haven't won ANYTHING yet. All you've done is ruin the season for a couple of other teams. Save those kinds of parties in the street for when you actually accomplish something of merit.

Dear Hockey Gods:
I am a faithful servant of your sport. Yes, I have a favorite team, but I buy NHL Center Ice every year so I can watch ALL of your teams play, from October to May.
I do not ask for much.
I didn't blame you last year when you made Boston give away a golden opportunity to return to the promised land by losing to a team from NORTH CAROLINA!!! I thanked you for the fact that, if my team had to lose, it was in a thrilling overtime.
I didn't complain to you the year before when you tantalized me by allowing the Bruins to take #1 seed Montreal to a 7th game, only to fall just short. I thanked you for the thrill of being able to see a #8 seed push a #1 seed to its absolute limits.
I didn't complain to you when the Bruins were in the wilderness the years prior to that. (OK, sure, I may have asked you to strike Harry Sinden with lightning on occasion, but who didn't? He was a bad, bad man.)
So here we are today, your humble supplicant beseeching you for one small favor.
I do not ask for much.
But we have in front of us the possibility of an epic Eastern conference championship. A championship that would not only pit two Original Six teams against each other, but two bitter rivals. Maybe the biggest rivalry (or at least emnity) in all of hockey and one of the top 10 in all of sports.
We have the possibility of Yankees- Red Sox, of Redskins-Cowboys (you know, when they were both good), of Ali-Frazier.
Do you really want to throw that all away so that the Canadiens, hockey's royalty, can play the measly Philadelphia Flyers? Really? Is that what you want?
Please instill some spirit in the Bruins so that they do not blow Game 7. I ask this favor for more than me. I ask for Rocket Richard and Sugar Henry. For Rick Middleton and Ken Dryden. For Andy Moog and Patrick Roy. For Toe Blake, for Eddie Shore, for Ray Bourque, for Guy Carbonneau, for the Esposito's and the Mahovlich's, for Cam Neely and Kirk Muller.
I ask this, in short, for hockey itself.
Please let this happen.
I do not ask for much. I am asking now.

I am asking for a tight game throughout and one that goes into overtime. Beyond that, I can't complain ... be it a triple overtime Bruin victory or a double overtime Flyer victory. There is absolutely nothing like overtime playoff hockey. The only imporovement is 7th game, overtime playoff hockey. That is what I ask for.
