Today's NC-UConn game offers two indications that the basketball world consider's us relevant again.
UConn's tournament resume had 2 big wins - At Syracuse and at Georgetown. When was the last time we were a big win for anybody?
Billy Packer seems to be on the Big East Bandwagon, saying that while the ACC had three teams with legitimate aspirations to the final four, The Big East had 7 teams with legitimate aspirations to the Sweet Sixteen. I would point out that had anyone suggested that we had a legitimate shot at the Sweet Sixteen prior to the season, they would have been deemed to be clinically insane.

Good call. I noticed that too and I'd be lying if I said it didn't put a big smile on my face. To be considered a big win on the defending national champions tournament resume is a feat in some ways. How many teams have as many "quality losses" as the Hoyas with 4 of the 6 losses coming to Illinois, Syracuse, UConn, and BC. We have won the games we were supposed to this year (for the most part) and we have built a solid tournament resume. We deserve to be in the Dance.

I really really don't want to get ahead of myself, because we still need to keep winning to make the Dance, but the most suprising part about our season so far is that PURPLE FILMS MIGHT HAVE BEEN RIGHT!

Not having Rashad Anderson was devastating. Uconn also killed themselves with the turnovers and giving up offensive rebounds. Villanueva played like crap and Kellogg was worthless.
It also brought a huge smile to my face when the graphic showed up saying that we were one of Uconn's big wins.

If everyone comes back for UConn, they should be the best team in the conference next year. Marcus Williams was very impressive today - just a rock solid point guard with a rapidly developing offensive repetoire. Gay, Villenuava, and Boone will all have choices to make after the season, but I think all except Charlie V will be back.

Charlie will be back as well unless he can start scoring more than 2 pts in big games.

I cant guarantee it but it would have made a major difference in my opinion. They were really lacking another scoring option on the offensive end today in my opinion. Also, Kellogg ended up playing a lot because of it and he just took up space.
Still, if Uconn hadn't been so careless with the ball today they could have won. They also gave up some offensive rebounds that hurt a lot.
I think Uconn had like 16 blocks and UNC had 1, yet they still lost.

The backcourt looked terrible today, they sure look like they miss Talik Brown this year. Their big guys really looked good though, Boone kept them in the game. If they can keep most of their guys from leaving, and williams continues to progress, they could be pretty good next year. Tough loss today, we lost alot of bragging rights on the ACC. Oh well 6-2 is still not to shabby.
Go Hoyas!

I was at the game today, got to sit in the AD's box seats, great guy. And I was able to meet Rip Hamilton and Rasheed Wallace, contrary to popular opinion a good guy. Great atmosphere there today Marcus Williams can shoot thats about it, they do miss Taliek Brown, however Ben Gordon of course as they dont have a permiter scorer. Charlie didnt have a good game and boone had no help. UNC really wasnt all that impressive also. I think Uconn could end up being an upset victim in the first round.

Here's yet ANOTHER sign we matter again . . .
I live in Baltimore (Terp central) and I was picking up some things from the Safeway tonight for the week. As I was waiting at the deli meat counter the employee there started talking to me. I was coming from the gym and was wearing my Georgetown sweatshirt and he yelled out: "Hey! Georgetown used to be my team. I remember chanting 'let's go hoyas' at all the games. I was wondering when you guys would be back."
He told me his little boy is playing AAU now and wants to play for GU when he gets to that age. As I was leaving the counter he told me he'd be watching us in the tourney. I can only assume he means the NCAA and not the BE ;D

williams put up decent numbers, but he hogged the ball too much. he was out of control most of the time.
