Reservation tip: they sometimes will open a few tables the same day - if you call at 2:00 you can sometimes snag one (that's what we did last Tuesday). As far as I recall, Ray's only allows ~half of the restaurant to be reserved in advance. You can always walk up, put your name on the list and wait your turn. I tried the "Blue Devil" there last week. It didn't live up to the hype, looked a lot better on paper than in execution. Perhaps if Pops and III keep dropping in, they'll call one of the specials a Hoya. A double Cowboy maybe, that would kick anybody's ass.

Thumbs up! Still recovering from the closing of almost all Roy's in the DC area. They're coming back actually. www.royrogersrestaurants.com/#/findroysJust went to one in Alexandria recently. Fried chicken is still light years better than KFC. AWESOME! Also i never knew that they were based in Maryland and were only a northeast chain. I love Roy Rogers, the chicken and biscuits were way better than KFC (or even most restaurants who specialize in southern food). so glad they are back (but sucks the closest one to gtown is in franconia)

Ray's divides its seating into thirds: 1/3 is advance reservations, 1/3 is same day callers, 1/3 is walk-ins. So if you haven't called well in advance you can still call the same day and get in at a good time. And if you haven't planned at all, you can still walk up and get on the list. The wait is far shorter than it was at the old place. Yeah, I kind of go there a lot.

This thread is far too focused on Ray's an not on any of my approved off-season discussion topics:
1) Non-National Fast Food Chains (Roy Rogers/Sonic) 2) Wegman's 3) Politics 4) Facilities (and lack thereof) 5) Recruiting 6) Incredibly inaccurate predictions 7) Rehashing other, older, and better threads back before HoyaTalk jumped the shark

Wegman's is the #1 food store in the world. It takes care of the blahs especially on a winter Sat or Sun if there are no Hoya games.

Either get your butts up to northern Virginia or DC, or stop showing your damn commericals on my TV every five minutes. If I want to watch ads for things I cannot have, there are a whole slew of Victoria's Secret commercials out there.

Probably two miles past National off GW Parkway.

If you can't hit the Maryland House, still go for the Chesapeake House over anything on the NJ Turnpike. Always curious during move-in time were the random encounters with Georgetown students from NJ, Long Island, and elsewhere in the Maryland House and Chesapeake House en route to 37th and O.

was headed north on 95 last night after an afternoon inspecting real estate at Baltimore CC.
Stopped at Roys at the Maryland House. Made me nostalgic for the Roys on Wisconsin Avenue

And all the Jersey kids were in the gas station asking me how to pump gas. *headdesk* We had 2 Roys near my house growing up. One is an Applebees now and the other one became a Boston Market and is now a CVS. I'd rather have either Roys back.

Can anyone confirm who he was eating with? Specifically, that i) AF was no where to be found and ii) JTIII was cramming a loaded bake potato down Henry's throat?

Speaking of Esherick I have seen him a bunch of times running to and from class at George Mason where I was getting an MS, he teaches like sports management or something over there. Also Charlie Casserly from the Skins.

A friend of mine took Esherick's class at NYU a few years back. Said he made a far better teacher than coach.

I saw Eshrick at a Roy Rogers on the New Jersey Turnpike. Thumbs up! Still recovering from the closing of almost all Roy's in the DC area. Oh the trauma! I think I still have PTSD from the closing of my beloved Roy's!!!

Unless they're fedex'ing their goods out there, I doubt they're coming. I'm surprised they've made it up here to Salt Lake.
