Current AP rankings/this week's results
20. Wisconsin (beat Iowa, lost to Illinois) 21. Cincy (beat Xavier, lost to DePaul) 22. Villanova (beat St. Josephs, lost to Syracuse) 23. Texas (lost to Colorado, beat K-State in OT) 24. Pacific (beat Idaho, Utah State) 25. Texas Tech (beat Baylor, lost to Iowa State) "26." Ga. Tech (beat Clemson) "27." Charlotte (beat Houston, St. Louis) "28." Florida (lost to Kentucky, beat Tennessee) "29." Wichita State (beat Illinois State, lost to Bradley) "30." Minnesota (lost to Northwestern, Indiana) "31." Vermont (beat Stony Brook, lost to Boston U) "32." GEORGETOWN
Assuming the pollsters' voting patterns continue, we should be on the verge of a ranking in next week's poll based on this week's results.
Seven spaces is a long way to jump, but all the teams with hypothetical rankings (the rankings in quotes) above us save Ga. Tech and Charlotte lost this week. I think it's a safe assumption Texas and Texas Tech drop out in this week's poll, and Ga. Tech (with the BJ Elder buzz) and Charlotte (second in CUSA) enter the rankings. The questions that remain are: How far do Texas and Texas Tech drop in total votes? Will Florida's loss to Kentucky really cost them any votes? Will the fact 'Nova has dropped to .500 in the Big East cause pollsters to give GU more respect?
I would bet we end up around #27 Monday afternoon, even though 8-3 in BE play deserves a ranking.

Don't know if they'll be ranked, but Maryland will be ahead of us in the AP "receiving votes".
My prediction: Maryland #24, Hoyas #25 in the AP.
Two wins this week and we'll be ranked in both polls.

Good point: I didn't even consider teams completely outside the rankings with big wins this week. Memphis and Depaul are liable to steal some of our votes, too. Both had big wins in CUSA this week and are near the top of the conference standings.

well let me give you a kansas perspective, both texas and Texas Tech will be out of the top 25 next week. so i think that makes plenty of room for the hoyas.

See, I think psychologically being ranked would be terrific for the program. And by the program I mean me. I could get away with so much in all facets of my life.
"I know I didn't do the dishes, but sweety, I'm nationally ranked now. Can't we hire someone?"
"No, I didn't finish that memo. But I'm natioanlly ranked now, so you'll have to just bear with me. The media attention is unbearable."

Frank Black postings always used to be an event: "Will it be Marian theology this time, or maybe some Prussian military history?" Now we learn about doing the dishes. I , for one, feel poorer because of the emergence of New Frank.

Tell me about it; I sat with him at the game yesterday and, other than the occassional pithy latin epigram, all he wanted to talk about was whether Dove or Dawn liquid dishwashing soap was softer on his national security analyst hands!!! PS: Frank, I did end up recovering my GU scarf right under my seat in Sec. 104!!!

et tenebrae eam non comprehenderunt.
Come on Frank, with two Duke losses I was hoping for some explanation that tied them to the fallacies in John Wesley's arguments.

I can't really speak about Duke right now, but I will leave you with one last Latinism:
Agricola bonus est.

GA Tech loses to NCSU, so we should expect to pass them.

I think that Texas, Texas Tech, AND Oklahoma will all fall out of the polls this week. Oklahoma is on a three game losing streak (the most recent to Missouri, a bad loss), has lost four of their last five, is only 6-4 in conference.
If Oklahoma falls out of the polls, we will be in. If not, I think those stupid terps will just beat us out.
