This is a thread for everything positive you want to say about the Georgetown Hoyas. Direction of program, current players, committed recruits, anything that you're excited about and want to talk about for next year, put it here. We as a fan base owe it to our team to build some really energy going into the season. This is a team that may be ranked in the pre-season! But here's to being ranked at the end of the post-season. Our team rocks. Young teams lose close games to talented veteran teams. Young teams lose focus and give up that one run you never recover from. Young teams show flashes of great talent, but struggle over time against the most difficult schedule in the country. Veteran teams do not. Let there be no doubt that this is a veteran team. They may not be old, but this group is battle tested and hungry. They will play like veterans, and veterans under JTIII have been stellar. Look at who we have! How many Big East guards are returning that averaged 12, 3 and 3 like Chris Wright did, in basically his freshman season? 3. Deonta Vaughn, Eugene Harvey and DJ Kennedy. And only CW and DJ were sophomores. Chris Wright is one of the best and most well-rounded guards in the conference. And he should be even better this year. This of course, is all not surprising. The kid was 3 time All-Met, and a McD All-American. The caliber of recruit JTIII has brought to campus. Another McD AA is a kid named Austin Freeman. Now, Austin increased his frorsh numbers by 2.5 points, 1 reb and 0.5 assitst. If he can have similar improvement this season, (not unreasonable as shots weren't falling as well as you'd expect from Austin last year) He'll be putting up 14, 5 and 3. I'm pretty excited about the potential that exists in our back court! Not to mention a kid like Jason Clark. Another All-Met POY (It almost seems like III has this wired) Jason Clark showed a lot of promise as a freshman last year, taking on a 6th man role for a team that was at one point ranked in the top 5 in the nation. He should see his minutes increase this season with the graduation of Jessie Sapp. We have a talented developing big man in Henry Sims. We have an ACC-transfer junior off the bench with Julian Vaughn. Nikita has some experience. We're bringing in a kid who might've been a McD AA himself if he hadn't been spending the last semester at Georgetown in Hollis Thompson. And of course, we have the big man. Andy Katz says it best, when summing up his top candidates for national player of the year. Greg Monroe, Georgetown -- Monroe is arguably the top big man in the country on a team that could be a surprising Big East title champ. Arguably the top big man in the country. Let's look to him to MAKE that argument this season! Greg dominated last year and finished as the Big East Rookie of the Year, before forgoing likely lottery draft status to return to Georgetown. And of course the man who orchestrated it all, who brought the program back from the brink, JTIII. The man who has delivered 5 postseason appearances in 5 years, 3 of them to the NCAAs. (with one of the NIT teams making the finals) A man who has led the Hoyas to a Sweet 16 lost to the eventual national champions on the final possessions and a Final 4 over the core of last year's runaway champions North Carolina. A recruiter who has brought 4 McD AA's to campus in 5 years. This is an excellent basketball team and an excellent program. We can win, and we can win this year. Will we? Nobody knows the answer to that, but I think we will. This is going to be a big year for Georgetown. Hoya Saxa!

Great piece. Gimme' a shot of that uptick thinking and HH won't be raising the ire of the board while in the throes of a year-long bout of despair! We win the Big East...how many Hoyas--here and now--pledge a crisp $1000.00 to the Hoya Advancement Campaign.

The team definitely deserves our support. We are a small school supporting a major D-1 basketball program. That said- we are not going to ever get big-time facilities for our student athletes. We also are at a competitive dis-advantage as far as it comes to recruiting which translates to the team. We actually have academic standards that a lot of other major programs don’t have. Just look at all the scandals that have happened over the last couple years. Having said that about academics, just breeze through all of ESPN top 25 recruits, will they be matriculating at age 17? Some won’t, they will have lost a year in the academic process moving from school to school because of their basketball skills, Furthermore, a few players go to the super basketball schools in order to pick up the required credits for admission to major colleges. So as a result, some of these stars are coming in as freshman at age 19 or 20.
A kid is aged 17 and is almost a man or is a man at 20. Our players are student athletes and our juniors are physically the equal to some college freshmen. That said it is difficult for III to get the perfect recruit for his system. They have to be coachable and learn an entire new mental game. Keep in mind, college basketball is a business in its own right.

what part of "The Positive Thread" was confusing Kelly?
Georgetown will be back in the NCAA's Georgetown will compete for the Big East Crown
We have a very talented team that has gained experience! We have a great schedule this year that will keep us in the national spotlight!
We have two great recruits coming in next year! Nate Lubick is a beast a literal beast! The kid is a Grizzly Bear! He has a great motor and will to win. He's a great BE Big Man!
Markel Straks is a dynamic Scoring point guard! He got rave reviews at the recent CP3 camp. He cannot be stopped on offense!
We are being considered by some great top 50 and top 25 prospects and we have a chance at adding to an already great class!
This is an amazing time to be a Hoya Fan! The program is on the Rise! JTIII will lead us to the promise land!
WE ARE GEORGETOWN!

Excellent post Royski. Thanks for reminding all of us of the MANY POSITIVES this team has going for it.
A whole new season is about to begin and I have a great feeling about it. Experience is HUGE in college hoops, and this team has lots of it... along with a LOT of talent.
The Hoya Express will be back on it's 6 year upswing after being temporarily sidetracked the second half of last season. But that too is a learning experience for the team -- and the coaching staff too!
TRUE Hoya fans will support this team as always... and we will be rewarded BIG TIME!
Can't wait for Hollis' college debut!
GO HOYAS!

We are going to be really, really good this season. Second half of last season was just a hiccup - growing pains in a program reasserting its dominance. Top 3 finish in Big East, BET title, top 8 seed in tourney, DEEP run in March.
Buckle up, baby.

Great timing for this royski - we're over the hump now, 5 monthes since our last game, only 2 monthes until practice starts and 3 until we play. Too much optimism after the season starts will plunge me into the depths once we finally lose and a perfect season is no longer possible - but for now, we need all the positives we can get. We can do great things this season = can't wait until they roll out the balls and blow the whistle.

More positives: - Chris Wright: Owner of the highest season assist rate in III's tenure.
- Austin Freeman: Most efficient freshman and sophomore scorer in III's tenure.
- Jason Clark: For a guy whose weakness is supposedly outside shooting, shot 38% from three in conference last year.
- Greg Monroe: Posted 9%/18% rebounding percentages in conference, improving quickly from about 8%/13% out of conference.
- Julian Vaughn: He showed renewed bounce in Kenner that will combine with his already excellent skills to improve his game.
- Henry Sims: Put up thirty in Kenner just by being active. Brings that height back to the frontline that was so sorely missing last year.
- Bonus fun comment: Quinn Cook said that the person who was most impressive at the Chris Paul camp? Markel Starks. Unguardable.

The Positive Thread.
That's a good name for a band.
Come to think of it, it sounds like the title of a song that might be written by Flaming Lips or They Might Be Giants.
;D
Always positive. There is no other way to be with respect to the Hoyas.
You know what Doanld Sutherland said...."Crazy! I mean like so many positive waves maybe we can't lose! You're on!"
