Was the attendance really almost 15,000? ESPN's recap had it at 14,000 + so I was very happy about that and for the kids to have that type of crowd. Credit goes to the students on the board that have been very supportive and that's '07, Jersey, etc..... and DFW did a hell of a job putting that up on the frontpage and appreciate him bringing that to everyone's attention.
So proud of this team and best thing is that it's only BEGINNING at GU, which means this is only going to get better! ;D
Keep it up Hoyas and proud of the Program and FANS for the support and enthusiasm!

The attendence was definitely around 15,000. The place was pretty much full and the upper deck was as well except for the screened off endzone areas of the upper deck.
I think a lot of that was WVU fans but they weren't very loud and they werent organized at all. MCI was very much our homecourt today, and thats the way we've gotta keep it.

according to Yahoo sports it was 14,458 on hand. Not bad, eh? I thought MCI was capping attendance at 12,500. So much for that. Maybe v. Nova we'll get 20,000!

frist the attendance was about 14500 there wer alot of west va. fans but we were more and louder they were hardly heard.. secondly the attendance was supposed to be maxed with no upper seats at all at about 12000 or 13000 not sure what they did but feel the policy needs to be explained and consistant go hoyas beat nd theyll have a good home crowd there to say the least but we are georgtown and we hustle go hoyas beat nd

Line of the day: While in the MCI restrooms an unidentified Hoya fan flushed his urinal and said to all: "This *points to the toilet*, West Virginia fans, is what we call "indoor plumbing." A chorus of laughter/"screw you"'s ensued. Awesome.

Just goes to show what a 4PM Saturday start time (not noon on a Sunday) can do for attendance. I was under the impression that there wouldn't be any seats sold in the upper deck this year, so I was a bit surprised to see that. Perhaps that is overflow seating, which is a good idea, but I would like an explanation from somebody on how that whole thing works.

As I can pnly get to a few games a year because of distance, this was my first experience in MCI with the new configuration. Putting aside what we all would like (on-campus arena) but will not have in the forseeable future. Putting aside the financial ramifications of playing there. Keeping in mind that this is our reality for the time being, I've got to say that wasn't half bad Saturday. I'm sure the partially opened (and full) upper deck added a lot. The student section was great. It really is starting to get some artmosphere. And this wasn't even a major opponent (Uconn, Syracuse, etc.) Winning cures so many ills. Maybe not enough - but it sure makes our shortcomings less visable and much more bearable.

The upper deck was being used because it was Senior Parent's weekend (also part of the reason for the big attendance number) and the game was a featured event for the weekend.

I am not sure if I am proud to come out and say it, but I was that guy that made the joke. One guy shoved me in the back and the other went on a tirade of 'F-bombs'.
I also said that I don't trust a state who's governor is Jeff Foxworthy.
I normally would not take that angle when cheering at a game, but those WV fans were vile rednecks. We sat in front of the family of a prominent WV player. They came down to my group twice and threatened to beat up two women, because we were standing. The entire section was standing for God's sake...
Great win.

There is no question that the WVU fans are awful. Last year, Destroya and I had a bit of an altercation for cheering for the Hoyas that involved me getting open handed slapped... quite the experience.

You were in front of the Pittnogle's, weren't you? I know that his wife and sister were in attendance.

No comment. I doubt they can figure out how to turn on a computer and read these words, but I don't want to look out my window one day and see an El Camino with a bunch of rednecks pouring out of the back. I will simply say that the family was very nice UNTIL the Hoyas took the lead. They completely turned.
I did have one joke that I only shared with my friends. I was told that a sister, mother and wife of a player was behind me. I pointed out that in WV that is only one person.
I did not have the courage to share that joke with them, I was a little gun shy after nearly getting assaulted for my "indoor plumbing" joke in the men's room.

Why is it that everyone would be offended if we made jokes about African Americans, homosexuals, Poles, etc. but some feel it's okay to crack jokes about West Virginians, rednecks, etc.? I think they are all in bad taste.

Yes, I am still wearing that silly hat. I actually bought a second one as I assume that one day an angry Syracuse fan is going to pull it off my head.

I think they are all in bad taste. Yeah, I really do have to second this thought. This whole thread leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. Pretty classless.
