I think his in home schedule speaks volumes. I'll cheer for him if we sign him and I trust JTIII's judgement, but he doesn't seem like the right fit for us.

Apparently he took an unofficial visit to Gtown this weekend. Anybody have any info on the visit?
It is apparently us and Missouri as the frontrunners, with Marquette also in the mix.

"Received word from a source that Tony Mitchell will not be signing this week. He's going to visit Missouri and then likely make a commitment next week." (ED-scout.com)

Mike Anderson is a helluva coach over at Missouri. Looks like Mitchell is deciding between two great coaches. Not sure where North Texas fits into this.

"Received word from a source that Tony Mitchell will not be signing this week. He's going to visit Missouri and then likely make a commitment next week." (ED-scout.com) This cant be good news for Georgetown. There is only one "open" scholarship for next year so, unless JTIII plans to extend Monroe's scholarship to someone else this early on without an official decision, a Mitchell commitment would mean that Georgetown would have no scholarships to offer to Jelan or Roscoe. I doubt that with those two guys seriously considering Georgetown, JTIII would have a no-string attached scholarship available to Mitchell. Just my opinion. I think he signs with Mizz

I agree jd. But i don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. Mitchell is 3rd on my list of wings. Of course it'd suck if we miss on both kendrick and roscoe, but i have a good feeling we'll get one.

Well, from what I've read, Kendrick is waiting until the Spring.

Yes I think Kendrick wants to see how teams perform. If we do well this season I think we get him. I think our main competition is indiana, so If we do well I can't imagine him wanting to go there over here. But again, he still has a long list and pretty much no one knows what he'll do. But i'm always an optimist. I suppose we could take mitchell and then take kendrick in the fall assuming greg's scholarship will be more obviously open at that point. Also I know mitchell's grades are still a question. I knwo he hasn't been taking official visits because he doesn't have the grades too. Is there a chance at reclasifying? or did he already do that once?

According to a source that knows him (hope they dont mind im posting this here), Jelan really really likes Georgetown but he has one big concern: playing time. He wants to start from day 1 which JTIII will obviously not guarantee with Wright/Free/Clark/Hollis =/
HSB, that honestly puzzled me about Mitchell decision. I thought a guy who is borderline academically would want to wait and do his best to bring his grades up and keep his options open, not commit this early on to a school he might not even want to go to (I think he hasnt even been to Mizz). Im not sure that makes sense, but by that im assuming Georgetown has an academic standard higher, even if just slightly higher, than the minimum NCAA eligibility requirement; however, if there was any truth to the Latavious rumors (YES! It all comes back to Latavious!), thats not necessarily the case...

I'm hoping in the end kendrick decides to go to a school where he has a great chance at winning games and playing in the NCAA tournament. Sure indiana will eventually be back on track i'm sure. Not this year and not necessarily next year. Kendrick won't be guaranteed to start. But it certainly won't be impossible. and there's plenty of room for playing time at the 3 for him even if hollis starts.

I think it's clear that if the kid is good enough, JT3 is willing to take a chance on the academics side of things. Mitchell is supposedly on track to be eligible, but anyone who really knows the answer to these questions isn't talking.
I also think that we would take commits from two of Kendrick/Mitchell/Smith in a second, and let the chips fall where they may. The scholarship will be available - when was the last time we (or really 90 percent of teams) didn't have some off-season attrition?

You take the kid and deal with the scholly situation later.
By the way, Roscoe's not coming here, so not sure why people are even bothering to keep discussing him.

Because we are in his final three and because JT3 keeps having in home visits as well as visits to watch him in school. I don't think we're going to get him either but JT3's actions say we're actively recruiting him. (In regards to Roscoe)

The more I think about this, the more I feel Mitchell is bluffing. I think Gtown is his clear #1 and maybe he's hoping this will put pressure on JTIII to sign him? Pure speculation, but this just doesnt make any sense to me...
And Roscoe *sigh* I dont think anyone knows what he's doing. But... If he was gonna go to UConn he wouldve signed by now right? That only leaves Duke, and he waiting for Barnes to announce... which conveniently happens to be tomorrow. Should Barnes commit to Duke, we'd have a much better shot at landing Roscoe

Since the other thread go locked I'll post this here in answer to the question posted in the other thread. As people know mitchell was down to Missouri, Georgetown and North Texas.
So of course he decided to go with north texas.
Just kidding. He's heading to Mizzou. Much better fit for him style wise and grade wise.

Mike Anderson is an excellent coach, and Mitchell will be well used in his Nolan-Richardson style game. I'm not sure what Anderson's track record is of development in terms of NBA players, but they will win some games.

DeMarre Carroll was a first round pick out of Missouri this past season. Similar size/skill set to Mitchell, I'm sure Mike Anderson used that as a selling point.
