So here I am in a sports bar in St Louis the only Hoya fan watching the game. The bar is filled, mostly with Illinois fans contemplating the prospect of going undefeated for the entire season. They are supportive of me since they don’t have a dog in the Hoya-Mountaineer fight (or they were patronizing in a really nice way, I’m not quite sure). But I want other Hoya fans to cheer with and I am feeling quite alone.
Suddenly, up on the screen, there is the obligatory shot of the screaming students with painted faces. Wait a minute, I must know these people!!! That must be GUHoya2007 and CAHoya07 among others. And I am comforted and know that I am not alone.
Now, for my modest request. You guys could maximize the value of your hard-earned TV time by letting me know who you are. It would really help if you would wear some big name tags with your Hoya Talk handles so that I could more knowingly revel in your three seconds (per game) of fame. What do you think?

On a related note, the student section looked packed to the rafters today on TV. Good stuff.

Its been packed pretty much every game. I don't think today was as good as its been at a few other games, I know there were 1,350 students(in the student section) at the Seton Hall game. The students were a little bit late arriving today but in the end the section was pretty much full.

Was the student section audible on the telecast? Comments please. At times (Big Roy's throwdown, WVA free throws, etc.) it was definitely audible. There were stretches when the arena didn't seem particularly noisy for 14,000-strong, but the crowd had it's moments. It was definitely a "better-looking" crowd, and I don't mean their attractiveness. Rather, there weren't the usual gaping patches of purple where entire blocks of seats were left empty. Definitely looked like the largest crowd of the year. Update: Also worth mentioning about the TV broadcast is that former UConn forward Donny Marshall was one of the commentators. I thought he did a great job, and not just because he obviously likes our squad (especially Green. He loves JG's game, rightfully so.) He was like the anti-Dana Barros. Insightful, intelligible, charismatic. I'd be happy to see him do more games, Hoyas or otherwise.

alot of hoyas students and the regular oldie crowd was pretty vocal despite the cheerleaders not getting around the arena to get them going much.. and by the way why the crowd of 14000 0r 14500 i thought we wernt supposed to sell the 400 upper level section at all and max at 12000or 13500 or so theends were closed but not the sides anyone have any info on that go hoyas beat nd will be tough at their place but WE ARE GEORGETOWN ;D

I second that on Marshall. Maybe it's only because we've been forced to listen to the likes of Warner Wolf and Dana Barros the last couple weeks, but he was very good. Still seemed to be getting his legs under him (I think this is his first year), but he definitely has a future in broadcasting. Dana Barros...well, I hope he invested his NBA money wisely.

If you ever see a guy on TV in the front row (or thereabouts) of the student section with a blue, curly-haired afro wig and flashy, bling bling aviators, that would be yours truly. I've been told I've made a few TV appearances so far this year.
