DaJuan is one of the very few good things to happen to Detroit this year. Best of luck!

Great great interview by Dajuan. A lot of interesting things in there that show he is a very mature guy off the court, really liked the things he said about Gtown, and that he really wanted to come back and prove to everyone that we had a good team.

Two things:
"We'll be fine." emphasis on the we, not they - great
His point that the Princeton offense only works with everybody on the same page is key. I don't know how you keep that year to year unless you have a perfect proportion of incoming guys to veterans so that guys are always learning and others always ripe.

I wasn't ware that the Princeton offense was so complicated that it takes players a long time to learn? is there a test that the players must pass? Hey genius, why don't you read what DaJuan has to say, including this passage:

This article was a pleasant surprise. I still have nagging questions in my mind about what happened last year (why DID DaJuan look so listless? It was more than just the "system" that prevented him from being the scorer we knew he could be)... but I'm glad he apparently left on good terms with the program.
JTIII also comes across as a classy coach willing to be honest with his players, and that will only help in the long run.

Read the quote again. It wasn't that no one knew the offense. It was that they didn't trust the offense with 8 seconds left on the shot clock so they rushed a bad shot or an ill-advised drive. What was missing was confidence and composure in those situations.
In previous years, with 8 seconds left on the shot clock, they knew to get the ball to Jeff Green or Jonathan Wallace and more times than not they would make a play within the offense to get someone a high-percentage shot. They did that as freshmen and then got better at it as they and their teammates improved their skills. The key point was that they never panicked.
When all else failed they ran the most basic play in the offense - dribble toward a teammate's defender to draw any reaction that opened up a cut or separation for a jumper. If the defender didn't bite, Jeff/Jon set a dribble screen and handed off the ball for a drive or a jumper.
On last year's team, the two guys who ran that simple play the best were freshmen Greg Monroe and Jason Clark.

What are the thoughts of the experts on this Board as to why the sudden blossoming of Summers! His explanation feels very politically correct and guarded.
Is there any Division 1 program that's currently or in the recent past used the PO...and if so, what are the results??

I'm pretty sure there was a team who used it recently to get to a conference championship and a Final Four.
Stop flaming.

Terrific interview. DaJuan proving himself to be a class act.

This is a gratuitous thread kick to displace the two "Chicken Little" threads up top. You know we're in rough shape and in an endless offseason if a Dajuan thread gets kicked.

What a refreshing read!
Great nuanced comments by DS. He answered a lot of questions that had been haranguing my Hoya hoops-obsessed mind the last year or so. Good luck in the league, DaJuan, and way to represent yourself and your school.

Mature, measured comments. I just love where not once, but three times he refused to take the lead into bashing the program.
Great example of how not to burn your bridges. Good luck, DS, in the league. I think you'll be fine.

For whatever it's worth, I think he was being genuine. He said basically the same that Jeff, Jon, Roy, PEII, etc. have said over the last few years, but from his own perspective and in his own words.

Like I have always said, Dajuan will always be a revered Hoya in my mind. He has always conducted himself with class on and off the court and was never a distraction. The kid was a good player and a great Hoya. This article only affirms what several of us already know to be true. Looking forward to seeing him earn the big payday in his second contract and help the Pistons.
