His sophomore year, didn't Allen Iverson stop going to class before the spring semester was completed? Does anyone know if he stopped before the basketball season was over? When did he and his Mercedes show up? I thought everyone with a guaranteed job offer once the year ended tried extra super duper hard their last semester at Georgetown. I don't know what to believe in anymore The Mercedes didn't show up (at least on or near campus) until April and I think late April. As I was foolish enough to hold out hope that he would return for his Junior year.

I remember it being right around the time of the banquet as there was still up in the air at that point whether he was coming back.

We only get worked up over athletes who will be making millions a year.

Don't forget college seniors. I think I only did enough work in the final month to make sure I wouldn't flunk my finals or screw up my law school admission.

I wasn't saying that the NBA should be careful what they wish for ... I was saying that college basketball would suffer. Don't I feel stupid now

That is literally absurd. Especially since Kansas now would have a spot for Lance had he not already committed to Cincy. Also, will be interesting to see how they bypass the whole signing two LOI's thing.

Lance hasn't signed anything. We'll see how much personal integrity he has.

Nice. ESPN picked it up as well.
Carl Henry complains about the original story but says everything in it, including his quotes, are 100% accurate. Wow. Did he and Mark Sanford go to the same school of spin control?
The kids still aren't even on campus yet. Won't not taking summer classes make it a little harder to maintain their academic standing in the fall term (I could be wrong, I don't know anything about KU's academic calendar)? If I'm Cole Alrdrich or Sherron Collins, do I want anything to do with these guys?
Good luck with that locker room, Bill Self.

How hard could it be to maintain academic standing in the first semester of freshman year?

How hard could it be to maintain academic standing in the first semester of freshman year? Oh, believe me, I know a LOT of people who couldn't do it. (and many of them didn't have the additional burden of having to go to practice for a sport every day). OK, maybe couldn't isn't the right word. Didn't is probably more appropriate.

How hard could it be to maintain academic standing in the first semester of freshman year? by not having enough passing credits to maintain the minimum GPA. If they aren't doing summer school, then they have to hope they do well in all their fall classes, right? Take the summer courses and give yourself some wiggle room. I guess they can take the minimum course load in the fall regardless. They, or at least Xavier, seem to have no intention of going to class. So I guess my point is that if they suddenly found themselves ineligible halfway through the first year, what's the point? Please note that this post in no way endorses the NBA age limit or its dismantling. And Boz' point is very well taken. Happened to a guy from my HS. Done by February of our frosh year.

At the risk of being demonized for bragging, just today my daughter got her fall schedule. It includes college algerbra, some American History class and English Literature among others. What's unusual? She was accepted into the full dual enrollment program and will be taking all classed on campus, even though she is only going into 11th grade. She will graduate high school in 2 years .... and will have her A. A. already. I'm very proud of her and very appreciative of her looking out for my wallet. She's on full scholarship with this progam other than lab fees and activity fees.
