Until Kenner arrives, this has got to be the most boring period of Hoya hoops in quite a while.

In terms of site stats alone, this has been the quietest in eight or nine years.
I think the end of the 2008-09 season took a lot more wind out of the collective sails than some might believe.

And there isnt as much recruiting stuff going on that would excite those who arent really into the recruiting stuff. Heres hoping something crazy happens with dajuan in the draft, that might create some excitement around here

But we missed out on that one. ;D But yeah, Kenner League is supposed to start the July 4 weekend (you'd have to figure on Sunday the 5th). Even then, usually we miss out on several of the players, including all of the freshmen, for those very early games, so even then there might be a whole lot of buzz 14 days from now. But I'll have something to do on a Sunday besides laundry, groceries, and sitting on my patio.

Who doesn't believe it? Its obvious. Its why we're getting all the sniping at one another and the lack of posts (which translates into lack of enthusiasm) altogether. Some folks really needed a break, some folks decided to step back and some folks are more fair weather fans.

If you guys would develop an interest in Georgetown track, you wouldn't be so bored this time of year. We have had the NCAAs recently, and now the USATF nationals in which several students and alumni will be participating. Exciting for me at least.

I'd agree...ridiculously slow and quiet.
But after last season, what is there to say? We could be good, we could be bad. I don't think anyone knows for certain, so it's hard to be either excited for the upcoming season or negative about it (actually, nevermind, people still do both...).
It's clear what's needed: a Devendorf-ian event. His leaving SUcks is a terrible, terrible blow to this board. The question is, who is going to step up and do something totally stupid and ridiculous to remind us that, even if not all of our players can be Jeff Green, and even if not all the moms can be Jeff Green's mom, at least our players had the sense not to go to SU or Maryland. God bless them, every one.

I think the current gap in between embarrassing stories about something their players or staff have done is a new record in the Jim Calhoun era. It can't last much longer. But don't underestimate dark horse Bob Huggins and crew.

well speaking of Huggins Mazzula may not be back next year and is currently suspended indefinitely due to allegedly choking a girl at a bar. This after getting into a fight with cops at a pirates game last summer. Since that's only 2 strikes and it is thuggins I'm going to assume he'll be back eventually, but you never know.

In regards to Mazzulla, it really is amazing how none of the media is mentioning this when it comes to giving previews and predictions for next season and WV. It's a BIG DEAL. Truck Bryant is good, but Joe Mazzulla is the glue of that team. I can't see them being a huge factor in the BE without Mazzulla, considering all they have is Bryant, Butler, and Ebanks, which is pretty comparable to Monroe, Wright, and Freeman(at their best level, not at last year's level). Therefore, if we are a middle of the pack team in the Big East, West Virginia is certainly not winning the league this year or nabbing top 3 without Mazzulla

So does anyone have an update for the Kenner start date? I'm in town this weekend and would love to catch a game if our guys are playing.
I heard through the grapevine from players that it may be this weekend, but they apparently aren't even sure.

I'd be willing to bet there are games on Sunday this weekend. I'm not sure if there'd be games on Saturday, just because it's Independence Day. (Last year, Independence Day was on a Friday, obviously, so they started on Saturday.)
Also, last year, the schedule was released on July 1, so we'll see if anything comes out tomorrow.
