Yeah that seems incredibly fair for the colleges - recruit the kid, sign the kid, plan on having the kid in the middle of September, then he signs a pro contract and you are left holding the bag 2 weeks before practice starts. NBA will never, ever go for a system like that. It'll be 2 years - the more interesting development will come if a kid challenges it in court because he wants to go pro right out of H.S.

Enj, your right with respect to Major Jrs in Canada which is simply minor league system for 16 to 20 yo. which doesnot allow you to attend college in the states. I think they can still go to school in Canada. Kinda of like what EYBL in AAU is becoming but on a year round basis. Tier one juniors in the states has dramtically improved over the last ten years and is getting many Americans and Canadiens drafted and in earlier rounds, think about 4 or 5 drafted in the 1st 30 odd picks this year. Back to Hoops, you may be right not sure the way some of the so- called prep schools and even the more established ones aren't already working on that model. More like how the Hockey preps operated 40 years ago.

guys this has been an interesting read but it has diverted to a discussion on the future of the college basketball scene.
All that needs to be said here is that Andre Drummond is not coming to Georgetown. Move on...

Funny thing is--normally I'd like Hoyas chances with a kid who has handled his recruitment with the weirdness of Drummond---it usually wreaks of a Hoya commitment because they love strange/secretive stuff but in this case--it speaks to the people trying to pull Andre in different directions to serve their agenda.
Guy is a talent but also needs a coach who will kick him in ass and get most out of him, which is why I hope he goes to college. I don't think there is a snowball's chance in hell he ends up in DC--unless it's to play against Georgetown--but I know I'm more concerned about him never reaching his potential if he tries to go straight to NBA too. Money and lazy kids don't match up well.

And therein lies the problem. It isn't about what is best for the game, it is more about keeping your piece of the pie. Most likely the team, player and college will have a good idea long before training camp if he will be back on campus. If the NBA wants a 2 year limit, then they need to provide a proper development program. Sleepy... those college and American junior/US development kids who were drafted high this year have all moved on and will play junior A in the OHL.

What do the mods have against the 31 Flavors-based media.... I think it was the dipping of the cone that got them into trouble.

If this guy enrolled in the fall, UCONN would win another national championship....I dont really see how he can pass that up. I wouldnt be able to.

I've never seen such little excitement on this board over a prospect of this caliber that by all accounts has Georgetown in his top 4. What's the deal?

The dude looks like Big Pat meets Greg Monroe. I sure hope we've had both guys make a pitch.

He hasn't talked to his HS coach in over a month. Most assume he's going to NBA or UConn, with NBA the heavy leader. III has stayed in recruitment as he should--you make kids like this turn you down--but nobody knows anything because he doesn't talk.
