"Iverson, though, has been banned mostly for his boorish behavior. He is a bad loser, and he loses a lot, often throwing his chips or cards at the dealer. He has been warned about improper behavior at the tables repeatedly. He is often loud and disruptive, according to witnesses, rude to dealers, other players and the wait staff." apps.detnews.com/apps/blogs/pistonsblog/index.php?blogid=1886

Frak! I was really hoping that he'd been banned for counting cards.
I had a whole slew of Rain Man comments ready to go.

Based strictly on that description, that fits like 50% of the people at casinos. I'm sure he's under greater scrutiny than others.
I would hate to see security footage of myself at 4 a.m. and things aren't going my way.

Love Iverson. We would all be mad at losing the amount of $ he probably does! He is certainly in the last year of the last $20,000,000 he will get as an NBA player. You will probably see him sign for some mid-level exception next year.

Iverson is a thug. They banned his ass from the Borgata in Atlantic City too. He rolls around the casino with 20 other homeboys that cause trouble. His money is not worth the pain of dealing with him and his posse.

Unbelieveable. Considering how much money he was losing, I agree that he must have been pretty disruptive to get banned.

I know two women in town, one a former dealer, the other a current dealer. They have had to put up with boorish behavior all the time. The conditions under which they work are pretty bad. At least one of them was able to get out of the business, I feel sorry for the other - she hates the business, but she is stuck in a dead end job. Both management and a bunch of the players give her a hard time.

Those casinos don't turn away just anyone. They know they need to squeeze every dime they can out of the bombed-out post-war zone that is downtown Detroit. I made my only foray into that area freshman year--they let me in after my ID apparently checked out on their scanning machine. That my ID didn't scan and that I looked like I was 15 wasn't a big issue...they knew I would spend some cash (cost them $40...suckers!).

Gentleman of Georgetown?
Ha!
Look at his charity situation.
While I'm glad he got a chance to play ball, somewhere else wou;d have been preferable.
I don't consider him a GU guy.

I think someone hit the nail on the head by mentioning his posse. I prefer entourage, but same difference. I understand the need for rich people like that to have bodyguards around, but that also creates a degree of the problems.
