rooter, I too, had very little doubt that sarcasm would be involved in this thread. Though I don't share the almost instinctual animosity towards the Terps that you all do, I certainly don't lament any ills that may befall them.

Question: when those scores are tabulated, does it take into account the entire roster or only the scholarship players?

That's a good question. I know that "team GPA" is all "active" players, including redshirts and the sort, but I don't know if they use the same criteria for the "official" graduation rate. The system is somewhat of an inexact science anyway. I know that if a player transfers to another school, it counts against that new rating that the NCAA adopted a few years back, even if the student-athlete in question was always and remained in good academic standing at both the original as well as the second school.

Question: when those scores are tabulated, does it take into account the entire roster or only the scholarship players? Even further, does it include only guys on basketball Scholarships? I know that teams like UNC will have guys with Baseball scholarships playing for the Bball team (and the baseball team). My guess would be that it is the whole roster, at least that is what i hope it would be, but the NCAA isnt very smart so i wont expect much

My guess would be that it is the whole roster, at least that is what i hope it would be, but the NCAA isnt very smart so i wont expect much I didn't think you could do that anymore. I know Bear Bryant was infamous for such tricks, but I thought there was now an established hierarchy, starting with football. In other words, if you are a sholarship athlete and play football, then it must count as a football scholarship. You are still allowed to play baseball or basketball for example, but your scholly must count as football in the school year that you play football. I thought the same was true of other sports as well. If so, then I would expect that the order would pretty much follow the financial contributions to the athletic budget, football first, then basketball, then baseball and finally the other sports. Is that not the case? Also, with baseball only having 11.7 scholarships to distribute over the entire team, I would be surprised if any school was willing to tie up such a precious scholly on an athlete for another sport. Does UNC really have someone playing basketball but on a baseball scholarship? On Edit: UNC has a pretty damn good baseball program. I would be surprised if they were shuffling schollies around to other sports.
