We should go to the Big East tournament because the point of going to college basketball games isn't for sheer entertainment. It is support your team and show them you belive in what they are doing, and thats what this team needs most right now. They need support. They need people to believe in them, because it will make believing in themselves that much easier.
You, Mr.Sixer, should go to the BET, because there is still a microcausm of hope left for this season, and if this Hoya team is the one to make of of those miraculous March Madness runs against all odds, than you will want to be there and witness it and be able to tell everyone you still believed even in the toughest times. You should go for the chance at glory, because that seems to be all your interested in.

The Hoyas and the staff will give every ounce of effort that they have to try to win every game. The Hoya fans will give every ounce of effort that they have (ounces of effort available may be affected by ounces of alcohol consumed) to root the Hoyas on to victory in every game.

why ... one should make the trip to nyc to support this group of players and coaches. i assume you didnt go during the esh years or the first year of JT III. Please dont go this year, we dont want you to tarnish the reputation of Hoya fans at MSG. While i am surprised that a few people here would want you to go be assured that the majority of fans dont want you there so please dont go. this doesnt just go for the guy who started this thred but for anyone who identifies with its sentiment. go find another passion, another hobby or another team, we dont want you on our side, we were better off without you. you can pretend you have been here all along when you show up with your hoya gear next year regardless so just go away.

I don't know mrsixer, but I prefer to think his question was borne out of a passion for the team, an understandable frustration with the season as well as legitimate competing priorities like his family or his job. Mrsixer, I hope you show up, and I hope the team does not break your heart. Loyal Hoya...you should consider yourself lucky you don't know him. If you did, you'd expect nothing less. He's the board vagrant.

Hope springs eternal! From Today's Bubble Watch by Andy Glockner:
Big East Locks: Pitt, Connecticut, Louisville, Marquette, Villanova, Syracuse Syracuse joins the lock party after closing out the regular season strong and getting to 11 Big East wins. Their last victim was Marquette, which has dropped four straight to league heavyweights since Dominic James' injury and could be a very tricky seeding decision for the Selection Committee. The Golden Eagles also dropped into a five-seed at the Big East tournament, which means they now must play Wednesday. Villanova gets the double-bye.
SHOULD BE IN West Virginia (21-10, 10-8; RPI: 25; SOS: 18) could have wrapped things up Saturday night, but dropped a three-point home decision to league champ Louisville. The Eers still should be fine given the overall picture.
IN THE MIX
...
Yes, Georgetown (16-13, 7-11; RPI: 40; SOS: 1) finished at 7-11, but the Hoyas actually have the Big East tournament draw that looks most conducive to a surprise run. First, they must handle St. John's at the Garden, a task they failed to complete last week. If they beat the Red Storm, they get reeling Marquette before a possible quarterfinal with Villanova. If the Hoyas pop up in the Big East tourney semis, is there any chance the wins over UConn and Memphis and the SOS can carry them? They'd probably need at least one more upset win.

I'm not sure games of interest deserves its own thread at this point considering how much work we have left to do, but I have bought into the idea that we could be an at-large team by winning 4, and have a remote shot with 3, so here goes.
St. Mary's vs. Gonzaga - WCC Championship. We want Gonzaga. They're in the tournament, might as well be by an automatic bid instead of an at large. St. Mary's may be one of the teams we have to jump to get in.
Siena vs. Niagara - MAAC Championship. We want Siena. Siena has a legitimate argument for an at-large bid. Niagara does not.

I honestly think St. Mary's is in regardless. They slipped when their best player, Patrick Mills, broke his hand. Mills is back. The committee will definitely take that into account.

I think only the winner of the Siena vs. Niagra winner gets into the dance. Siena has a good RPI but "the Saints don't have a single victory over an RPI top-50 opponent. Their best wins came against No. 56 Niagara and No. 67 Northern Iowa. The Saints lost at Pittsburgh by 13 points, at Kansas by seven, against Tennessee by 14 (neutral court) and against Oklahoma State by nine (neutral court). They have two sub-100 losses, losing at No. 124 Rider and against No. 159 Wichita State on a neutral court."

Interesting fact on Siena, they played in the Old Spice Classic also way back when. They lost to the Wichita State team that we beat the day before, could possibly be a factor in some sort of bubble debate. I also think that St. Mary's is in, bar a 30 point blowout tonight or something like it. Mills has been effective since returning and SMC has looked like the top 25 team that they were when he was in the line-up.
