I believe, give or take an outlier, that this is the age range of the players being vilified by an ostensbily adult community today.
I also believe that these 18-23 year olds are just as sick about the results as most fans.
I firmly believe that you will never hear one of them come out and say things like "the fat guy in section 101 did a crappy job cheering tonight."
They are kids and could be many of our own kids. Go easy on them. They hurt enough right now without grown-ups? piling on.

That's the age of the person we're criticizing.

"vilifying" is not accurate regarding most of the posts - some do go way overboard, and deserve the comment. But expressing significant disappointment at the lack of improvement over the course of this season does not seem so horribly out of line. And yes, as mentioned above, I think much of the dissatisfaction is with the inability of the staff to obtain the development and improvement that could be expected from such a young bunch. None of us ever really thought this was a team for a big NCAA run, or for the top tier of the conference. At the same time, a normal development over 5 monthes would have had this team in the NCAA's.

It's a chat board; some mix of positive and negative is expected. ESPN and anybody covering the Hoyas would have the same mix. My guess is the players aren't reading it, and if they are I hope they're tough enough to accept some criticism.
And I sit in section 100, not 101!

I think that there are some times when it is OK to criticize the players. For instance, they're adult enough to make major, life altering decisions, so it makes sense to maybe express our views on those. But there's no reason to tear them apart when they're already down. Let's just let this season go.
