studentorgs.georgetown.edu/gusa/All one needs to do is go to their website to see how sad they are as an organization. That picture on the home page includes a friend of mine from my class year - the class of 2006. There is one document, three photo galleries and no indication as to what GUSA did this year. What a joke.

People running for GUSA to get rid of GUSA is nothing new, but I'm shocked it hasn't managed to win at least once.
My favorite was always the Lev Babiev tickets. I really wanted that giant statue of Mr. Belvedere.

one of the tickets is currently standing outside Leo's with a little pug who is wearing a sweater which has a piece of paper bearing their names taped to it. that has to be a violation of some sort of GUSA regulation. if setting up a laptop to help people vote or placing one too many flyers in the wrong place is grounds for disqualification, forcing an innocent animal to participate in your ego-driven bid for GUSA obscurity has to be out of bounds, if not afoul of DC animal cruelty laws.

That was the group most opposed to the reinstatement of the disqualified parties. I dont like them (for reasons out side of pointless GUSA elections)

I think that DOPS should overthrow GUSA in a coup and institute martial law. That's the only way this whole thing comes to the end it so desperately needs and preserves the entertainment value of GUSA.

Particularly when they campaigned during their senior year, and even more impressively when we resurrected old campaign signs and mounted a write-in campaign the year after they graduated (that actually netted about 100 votes). I believe one, if not both, are active members of Hoyatalk these days.

i recently was told (or read somewhere, i can't remember) that GUSA President (and maybe VP?) is a paid position...is that right?? is that common knowledge that i've somehow missed? there are many different things about GUSA that frustrate/annoy me (this column gets at many of them: www.thehoya.com/node/18327), but if that's true, something just doesn't seem right or fair to me at all about it. there are tons of "campus leaders" at GU who contribute more to the community (not saying GUSA can't or doesn't contribute) and who, in theory, "deserve" a stipend as much, if not more, than the GUSA prez. and that's assuming you're even okay with the idea of tuition dollars (or activity fees) going to pay students who happen to hold any sort of official position on campus, which i certainly am not. am i just totally out-of-touch on this? are other campus positions paid/stipended? (besides the obvious ones that are considered actual jobs, i.e. the Corp, the Credit Union)
