Getting back to the point of the thread....
It was truly a pleasure meeting Jon and Tyler----and JahidiHoya!! We pretty much mobbed them (us three guys and two pretty ladies we were with) when they walked into the Turtle (to get some dinner) and they graciously talked with us for about 15 mins until we finally let them go. On their way out the door, they said goodbye and nice to meet you. Pretty cool.
We covered several topics. The guys were super down to earth, had (obviously) great insights, and made me feel better about this year and next year.
Jon's no longer with the Slovenian team, and is moving to Germany. He said that Reuben Boumjte-Boumtje is either on his team or in his league (I can't remember which). He said that the talent level is pretty astounding in Europe, that a lot of NBA-ready guys are cutting their teeth over there, that the game is "more precise" than the college game.
We chatted about the team. He said that 08-09 is like 04-05 (Jon/Tyler/Jeff/Roy's frosh year) in terms of experience, knowledge, etc. His eyes got real big when he was like "there is a LOT of talent on this team...they'll be really good".
Tyler talked a little about playing with Jon in Slovenia & his grad school plans. We talked about playing for JTIII and how it's tough to learn the system but once you do--once it clicks--it really works and works well and is fun to play.
I have to say it was a bit of a thrill to meet the guys. I'd always heard how great they are and getting to know it personally was cool. Jon is one of my top 5 favorite Hoyas of all time, so there was that added bonus.
If you guys read the board, thanks for taking the time to talk to your fans.
