I know this isn't fantasyland, but if we run the table are we a tournament lock?

I know this isn't fantasyland, but if we run the table are we a tournament lock? I think so. 9-9 in the BE with a tough schedule and a "story" of turning it around and playing well, with wins at Connecticut, Memphis, Lousiville and at Nova?

I know this isn't fantasyland, but if we run the table are we a tournament lock? Yes, by virtue of our auto-bid.... I assume you mean in the regular season. The answer to that is also yes, that would be a hot Georgetown team that sports a sweet looking 5 pack of wins at UConn, over Memphis, over Syracuse, over Louisville and at Villanova while being 9-9 in conference with stellar computer numbers. We win out, and make it to Thursday in the BET, I honestly see us in 6-7 seed range. I think we need 5 more wins to make the tournament, no matter when they come, or who against honestly. 4 MIGHT get it done but it's very dicey. And at least 2 have to come in the regular season.

Outside of any NCAA/NIT talk, if we lose tonight, we fall to 5-10 in the Big East. That just looks really ugly in print. So let's make sure it doesn't happen.
Notre Dame was struggling but really took it to Louisville at home a couple weeks ago, why can't we? A game like this will show what this team is made of. If we don't win one of the next two games, we do not belong in the NCAA Tournament conversation.

Stop the easy lay-ups! Greg starts the week with another ROW performance against Samuels.

If anyone is free this afternoon, please stop by Hooters on 7th Street and dump whatever casualhoya is drinking in his lap. He will be the only person there attempting to steal wifi or typing feverishly on his Blackberry.
Oh yeah, he has a new post up at casualhoya.blogspot.com
He will make you famous!

4-0 to finish with wins over Lville, Nova, SJU, and DeP, plus all the early season stuff? You bet we're Dancing if that happens, unless we get tossed from our first BET game Seton Hall 2001-style.
This game is winnable. All depends on which team shows up and for how long, and which team decides to play the last 5 minutes. Is it even possible to do a meaningful pre-game analysis/prediction any more? Ok, ok, here's one: Nikita will score 3 to 6 points and foul out. Greg will have another double digit scoring game with "nice" RB, ASST, and STLS.
FWIW, we're still the least consistent team on kenpom: 344/344. Maybe we're due. We're also even less lucky than we were last week. We're now 335/344. So maybe we're not due, just unlucky.

Let tonite be the start of a seven game win streak. I guess Rick won't have his white suit on tonite.

Looking at the mini-conferences, I think you probably mean an 8 game winning streak. We're almost certainly playing on Tuesday, even at 9-9.

The team just needs to win tonight. They've been playing their butts off the last week or two with not much to show for it. That funk they were in has passed. Fan support needs to be there, team needs to give it their all on D as well as O. Limit Turnovers. Get Boards. Play Smart, Tough Hoya Basketaball!
This is my 4000th post! I am dedicating it to a BIG WIN tonight by our guys. They need it. They deserve it for all the work they've been putting in.
GO HOYAS!!!

I want a win for this team so badly. They really have been playing well these last three games and working so hard. Things just aren't breaking for them. Hopefully that changes tonight.

I really like this article and all the quotes from the Cards players: www.courier-journal.com/article/20090223/SPORTS02/902230404/1002/SPORTS"We don't have that much time to prepare, and we're a team that's big on preparation," forward Earl Clark said. "That's going to be the tough part." The Cards haven't faced a team this season with a similar style. "It's going to be tough for us to adjust having one day of preparation for a team that runs such a unique offense," U of L guard Andre McGee said. "With all those backdoor cuts and all that movement, we've got to be ready for it." "We were so up for this game (at Cincinnati) mentally and physically because we knew what type of fight we were in for," U of L coach Rick Pitino said. "Now we know at Georgetown is going to be the same thing." "As far as record-wise, we have to be happy," Williams said. "We're right there at the top." ********************** What I get from these quotes is: 1) They haven't faced the Princeton at all this season. If we actually run it, it will be an advantage. 2) They are fairly happy with that win over Cincy and are susceptible to coming out flat. 3) They haven't yet done the Saturday-Monday turnaround all on the road - this will be a factor with preparation and rest.

If we can stay in it early I like our chances. The longer we stick around the better. If we aren't too deflated from Marquette, we can definitely win this one, and keeping it close early will help inflate our confidence after that lose and keep our focus. Especially if Lousiville makes a lot of mistakes. These last few loses all the teams we have faced have played very very well against us, with minimal mistakes, any mistakes Lousiville makes is going to feed our confidence that much more.

Winners make their own breaks, sleepy. I just don't think we have it in us this year. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Look the past two year have been great, but some of the good things that happened to us were completely out of our control, and still went our way. Eventually that catches up to you. Yes, if we were a great team we would be able to overcome the tough breaks, but we aren't a great team. Things just seem to be a little stacked against us this year( from transfers, to phantom technicals), maybe a karmic balance for all the things that went our way in the past, idk, but everything happens for a reason.

I am hoping against hope here...the loss on Saturday was draining in more ways than one. Emotionally draining because of the hoopla surrounding the weekend -- you could see it on the guys' faces at the end of the game. Physically draining b/c we played up-and-down style of basketball for nearly the entire game, so I am not sure that they boys will have their legs under them tonight.
All in all, asking a lot for a win tonight against the #6 team in the nation...we can only hope that the team recognizes the crucial nature of the game (likely a given) and responds with an effort and intensity matching the importance of the game at hand (less likely).
I will be at the Villanova game, so selfishly, I am really, really hoping for a W tonight. This team still is among the most talented ever compiled at GU -- they just need to put it all together as a team and played so GD defense.
Go Hoyas.
