...and they would not be our best home win. Think about it.
Own it Hoyas! This team is a road worrier and you need it. Close out, make them 2-point jump shooters, and win it.

Just because Memphis is a big fish in a small pond doesn't mean they are actually better right now than Marquette.
Those nice wins over Tennessee and Gonzaga shows that they improved but they are still getting by the weak sauce C-USA
But other than that, lets win this baby!

Jeez, vcjack, throw a wet blanket on a stoking fire why don't ya? haha.
Marquette does play much more poorly away from home and you can point to our game at their place as the starting point of us righting the ship to a degree. Have we progressed to the point of beating them this time around? Have we stepped up our defense? Only Saturday will tell....
LETS GO HOYAS!!!!

We're better than they are, straight up. Last time we played em we were in a bad place and we had a rough second half. This time we're gonna take it to 'em for 40. I'm fired up for this game already.

Hoya saxa, baby. Let's make this their worst road loss of the season (in terms of points). The tide has turned .

Did we give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! Well put. And I can only add to that, Toga! Toga! Toga! i prefer a little shakespeare for some pre game motivation - Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more; Or close the wall up with our English dead. In peace there's nothing so becomes a man As modest stillness and humility: But when the blast of war blows in our ears, Then imitate the action of the tiger; Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood, Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage; Then lend the eye a terrible aspect; Let pry through the portage of the head Like the brass cannon; let the brow o'erwhelm it As fearfully as doth a galled rock O'erhang and jutty his confounded base, Swill'd with the wild and wasteful ocean. ;D ;D ;D

50 - I think quoting Henry V in a post with a Hamlet tagline is somehow over the top for internet fansites.
Couldn't you just say "beat them like a red-headed stepchild/rented mule" or something equally visceral?

Hoya50 - Absolutely. If we had more juttying, we would be in much better shape right now.

Hoya50 - Absolutely. If we had more juttying, we would be in much better shape right now. exactly. i guess shakespeare isn't some people's thing. there's enough pop culture references on this board that i thought i'd go a little classic. i'll try with something a little more modern: You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs - Victory in spite of all terrors - Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival.

We're 1-2 vs. MU at the Bradley Center since they joined the conference, 1-0 at Verizon, and 1-0 at MSG.
With all due respect to Giga, I do think this would be our best home victory of the year, should we pull it off. There is hope, however. For whatever reason, when the calendar turns to February, Marquette hoops always cools off--it has happened again this year. They aren't playing as well as they did when we went up there; it was probably their best performance of the season.
In any event, this starts an MU stretch of five brutal games when they're finally tested against the best of the best in the conference. Don't be surprised if they're looking just a little past us at the UConn and Pitt games they have coming up.

Marquette is tired, they only play six players and have two other big games this upcoming week. They might be a little fatigued and also looking past us. We could really blow them out like we did Cuse at the booth and UCONN to open the BE season.

They aren't playing as well as they did when we went up there; it was probably their best performance of the season. I want one of the statisticians to run a report on these phenomenon, teams: 1) teams looking ahead of the weaker opponent before us, and chunking those games 2) teams that play of their jugs against us but never get close to that level again and 3) teams that apex in the Hoya game, esp. at home, and then go forward to suck. Para-hoya!

I will be there in spirit. My dad (class of '62) will be there in person, but he's got a bad cold, so his normal shouting prowess is way down. Locals, I call on you to make up for this by getting WAY LOUD for our Hoyas! Honor the 84 champs, and show MU who the boss is!
