what a complete tool. this POS hasn't admitted anything. he throws his cousin under the bus? like we believe that all he took some random over the counter drug from the DR that improves his energy level? i feel bad for guys like jeter that have to put on a good face for this selfish pig.

Wow, I refuse to believe he is human. Does he only speak in BS cliches? Two things: he tested positive for an expensive designer steroid and testosterone, not something his "cousin" found in a pharmacy in the Dominican Republic. Why is no one asking him about this? Second, the man cried on cue. Literally. Appalling, but on some level a tour de force. Wow.

the yankees framed this sham so he wouldn't have to answer anything. pedro gomez is searching for this 'cousin' as we speak. he had a chance to come clean and all he did was PO a bunch of reporters by not really saying anything. this is going to get much worse for him before it gets better.

That was one of the great Dog and Pony shows I've ever seen. I can't wait for A-Rods 4th or 5th "media availability" (it's not a press conference if you can't ask follow-ups) to see where his bizarre explaination goes next! The "cousin's" prepared statement should be a work of art.

Yawn, I grow tired of steroid talk. I honestly feel bad for the Griffeys and Madduxes of the world, who will forever be grouped as part of the steroid era, even though they are probably clean.

I don't think the Yankees did anything--I think what you get is what you see with A-FRAUD. He's incapable of being honest and it was all more lies today. How embarrassing is it that you need a prepared, written, statement when all you have do to is speak honestly?
Always have hated this clown--but I gave him benefit of doubt for being clean-as I honestly never believed he took anything--but now everything is out the window with this jerkoff.
For the bashing that Jeter gets from A-Rod "lovers" about what he cannot do--at least he has been clean and his skill level has deteriorated with age--as is the NORM for people--especially in professional athletics.
"I was young/naive" and he's friggin 24/25 years old? COME ON!!! What athlete doesn't ask what something does for them--especially an ego-driven, stat rat like A-FRAUD? He wouldn't take a thing that could jeopardize his attack on record books--and for him to talk of this will be "our greatest season ever"----when he's looking at Jeter, Rivera, and others who were part of a team that went 125-50 WITHOUT him and have 4 rings, 6 World Series appearances WITHOUT him is just a far greater indictment of how selfish this dip**** truly thinks.
I'll also go on record and say that I think Johnny Damon took something on this current team, and for him to go on MLB Network and "defend" A-Rod was even a larger embarrassment. Those ridges on forehead that make you look like a caveman are quite a telltale sign.
Only thing I am adamant about--if A-Rod got his name leaked out--then the other 103 should all get their day in limelight as well. Let's break this beeyotch open and expose the other frauds this game is filled with. Not right that one person takes the heat for everyone else--especially considering the privacy that was supposedly in place for those tests.
Also--it's a public embarrassment a yoked up juice poster boy like Travis Hafner came out and said he's "NEVER taken steriods"--which I am certain he hasn't--because he looks like an HGH BEAST 100%. These self centered bastards lie and lie and just keep it up. I think A-Fraud told 25-50% of the truth since he's been outed--and this thing today was an embarrassment to him, the Yankees, and MLB--but why should he tell entire truth if nothing is going to be held against him other then "feelings"? The game is a joke and more of the blame should placed on Owners and Selig--who began this travesty with the Step It and Fetch It Show that was McGwire and Sosa in '98.

I just wonder if and when we will leard the whole story behind this steroid issue. I mean, the more we learn, the more we learn that we still have to learn. The list of names, previously assumed and accepted as free from blame keeps dwindling. And even irrelevant and disregarded "journeyman" like players keep getting added to the list. Will it ever end?

Really Boz? It will never end? Maybe I asked the wrong question. I know that speculation concerning those athletes of the past two decades will forever be cast in a cloud of doubt. (note: see my question for the board) ...
I guess my question is really what led to that thread. How can we get some closure to this and move on? I am beginning to admit that there is nothing that can be done concerning the past, but have we been dealt a hand that must forever have this cloud hanging over it? Must all future achievements be questioned? Must we adopt a universal testing policy where every athlete is tested enough times so there is no chance of using without getting caught?

My no is in two parts.
1. No, speculation about the past will never end.
2. No, speculation about the present and future will never end. For two reasons:
A. There will always be a new performance enhancing substance that athletes will be accused of using. It is like uninventing the nuclear bomb at this point.
B. The media loves this. They may complain about it being bad for the sport, but they eat this s*** up with a spoon. There will always be a reporter who can get attention by investigating an illegal substance allegation.
So, no. It will never end.

Hifi,
One word: genetics.
You think athletics are rigged now? Wait until an athlete can get gene therapy or only rich families can program their children pre-birth to be athletic marvels.
Course that's a much bigger issue.

I wonder if A-Rod's cousin is hanging out with the Colombian hit men.
I don't know if any of you read any of Marvin Miller's recent interview. That old bastard doesn't give a damn about the game at all. He still maintains that the union should never have agreed to permit drug testing.
The other 103 names will never be released, except perhaps on a one-off basis. It may not be "right," but it's the deal the parties agreed to. I can't see the union ever agreeing to wholesale release of the names.

There will always be a reporter who can get attention by investigating an illegal substance allegation. Yeah, I kind of wonder if I will ever be able to just enjoy a baseball season ever again. The PED circus will be joined shortly by the perjury circus, and that may drag on for years. It's weird because the game is changing, and the "post-steroid-era" players are really fun to watch. I think a lot of baseball fans would like to see some of the very good young MLB players get more pub, but as long as stories such as A-Rod's positive test generate clicks from fans and non-fans alike, that won't happen.

the guy didn't even speak honestly about his age when he played in texas. he wasn't 23 or 24. his first season in texas was 2001, he turned 26 on 7/27/01. that means he was between 25-28 when his cousin poked him in the rear. he expects us to believe he was 'young and stupid' at 25-28, but wasn't at 19 or 20?
the most pathetic part was when he paused to address his teammates and tried to force out a tear...for 40 seconds...and failed.

As if he's "close" with them. It's going to be interesting to see how he performs this year because he self admits he "wants to be liked by everyone" and he's not going to get that from some--no matter how he performs. Others will not care as long as he produces and Yankees win games. Others will make him public enemy #1 if he gags like he did a lot last season. All I can say--I share the same disgust over Andy Pettitte that I do A-Fraud and just because he did more for Yankees during his time and team was successful doesn't excuse his "down home" bullcrap excuse from last Spring.
