Obviously no one likes moral victories, but at least the team showed some heart today. The question for me is, if we manage to beat USF, can our team and fans really show up for the Marquette game? Winning that will be an absolute necessity, but has the team really turned a corner, and will our fan have any clue about the importance of the game?
One of the things that made me sick about today's game is that the 'Cuse can get 31,000 screaming fans against us, and we can only get about 200 screaming fans (other than students) against them. What do we have to do to get people really into our games? Hopefully, we can figure it out by next Saturday (especially if we win against USF).

TEAM CAN---and HAS TO!
It's one thing to lose a game--another when you stick together to get back in it and almost win it. It wasn't anyone going crazy and just hitting everything--it was a TEAM EFFORT and that is what it's going to take to fight through this stretch of losses and get back to winning.

Unfortunately, Verizon attendance could take a nosedive (10-12,000). Washingtonians have a history of jumping off bandwagons.

Considering the Sapp/Wright problems appeared to get resolved before our eyes and that was the most fire, togetherness and confidence we've seen in forever, then sure we can build off of this. But there is a long way to go, and whatever margin of error we might have had is long gone. As for the rest of us, can we just make as much noise as possible against Marquette on Saturday? If not just for this year, then for next year and beyond. We can all do a better job!

Absolutely. They showed me more heart and guts today than they have in 6 weeks. I finally saw a Chris Wright that wasn't afraid to penetrate the lane, even if he still can't get to the line. We weren't completely worked on the boards. And if Jessie Sapp didn't earn his way back into the starting lineup (or at least, 20-25 minutes of PT/game), I don't know how else he can.
We never get a good number of fans at the Carrier Dome, Fso. And that will never change. That has nothing to do with not having people get up for our games.
What the team has to do to build off of this is continue to do the things they've improved upon today: for the most part, we took good shots (minus Dajuan, who I thought took way too many contested 3's and passed up open 3's). We showed some fight after being down 16, as opposed to somewhat laying down against Pitt and WVU.
We still have a long way to go on defense. Poor effort again today. Onuaku and Rick Jackson should never be getting that many uncontested looks in the paint. Hack the hell out of them and make them beat us from the line. And it should have been evident to III that Nikita was not going to be able to stay with Rautins. Forcing him to do it for almost the entire first half was asinine. And again... free throw shooting. Fundamentals, guys. You can't shoot sub 60% on the road AGAIN and expect to win.

we lost a game we could have very easy stole right out from under them. the usf game will tell the story of this team. show up and fight out a win in a tough road game or just go through the motions thinking you can turn it on and off and still win games. this team hasn't shown me it's capable of putting in the 40 minute effort needed to win tough games.

Yes.
This is the best game we played all year.
We met adversity in the face and CONFRONTED for the first time all year, when in the past we coulda caved.
Proud of the guys.
We grew up this game.
Definitely something to build on.
Proud of the guys.
Tough loss, but we didn't go out like suckers.
IF we are ever do turn this thing around, you can point to this game as the starting point.

It should be something to build on but i don't think it will. In the second half we played more aggressive offensively, taking to the hoop strong. But the way the systems works, it will make us less aggresive next game. But at least we showed argency for the first time this year.

Guys,
We lost to a Syracuse team that is reeling almost as bad as us and Notre Dame.
A loss is a loss is a loss is a loss.

YEs, best game all year. Good teams fight through adversity. We aren't a good team yet, and we fought through it today. IF we evern going to be a good team, we need that quality about ourselves. And we demonstrated that this game. Everything went our way in the UCONN and 1st Syracuse game. Thats not how life works. Thats not how games normally play out. Given our struggles and how badly we played, all the issues with chemistry, lack of leadership, caving in to adversity, etc. we made huge strides this game. The question was asked if we could build on this? Damn sure we can. Best game all year. We can be a good team. And it starts with this game. Let's build on it for the next game. This can be a turning point.

Rockaway, I wasn't talking about getting a good GU turnout at the Carrier Dome. I was talking about Verizon. Our crowds are, frankly, pitiful compared to 'Cuse crowds.

THAT is a bigger feat than sloppily clobbering a poor Rutgers or talent deficient Maryland team, or playing out of our minds against uninspired UCONN team or Syracuse team that failed to show up in the 1st game. today we got hit in the mouth, had a couple of standing 8 counts, and took it 12 rounds and had a close loss. Its strides. We made strides today. Best game all year. Proud of the guys. We aint dead yet. We are Georgetown.

I won't say best game all year. Remember....we still gave up another 18-1 run between the first and second halves.
However, I do agree with everything else _way posted (and that has got to be a first).
Proud of the effort today.
Of course, it helps that Syracuse are dumb as stones.
(I apologize if I have insulted any stones).

Agree with Boz and the way. We've seen this team fall apart and fail to fight back when down 6. Today, we were down 16 and fought our way back. Sure we didn't end up winning, but for the first time since the Memphis game, I feel like we had some resiliency to us. Maybe it's too late and we don't have enough time to get into the tourney. Maybe it is a blip and we come out flat against USF and it doesn't mean anything. But, for the first time since the 1st 15 mins of the Duke game, we have something to build off of. Great effort and if we can keep it up, we'll have the opportunities to get some big wins and get on the bubble again and then hopefully into the tourney.
Also, 91 ppg against Cuse? I think we can stop worrying about their 2-3.
