Notice that Wright said they were playing with "instnct" during the just-short comeback.
Translation: STOP THE THOMPSON WALTZ!!!!!Attack.
These kids are being forced to play a system that is yesterday's news...they are tired of kissing their sister.
But I doubt this will change.
We are just not coach-competitive at present.

I like the optimism of the thread but seriously we should win the remaining games except possibly Villanova at Nova! The first in USF who seem to like to upset us though so the one game at a time mantra is never wrong. I predict 6-0 in the remaining games with Villanova in double OT and a run through the BET unless we have to play PITT. If someone else beats PITT we win BET, if not we lose when we meet PITT. I agree after the last 2 seasons when Georgetown got some fair calls in games that the refs are back to changing momentum against GU. Still, Ongenaet got kicked out so at least the refs kept the thugs from committing assault on the court. Pitty the syracuse police havent done the same at parties...

hoyaheaven, Did you watch the game? They ran the offense during the comeback. They stopped hesitating and kept the ball moving and made some shots. They are supposed to play on instinct IN THE OFFENSE. The offense doesn't hold the ball. Freeman and Summers hold the ball and stop the offensive flow. You keep ridiculously bashing the coach and wanting "street ball." The street ball score would have been 110 to 70 in favor of Cuse.

Avid reader, spotty poster.
But I feel confident about my predictions --
* 8-10, ranked 10th for BET (ND and the Hall falter/drop; 7-11 finishes) * Beat 15th rank, beat WVa (or whoever is 7th...but my guess is 11-7 WVa) * Maybe beat Louis (2nd ranked at 14-4) * NCAA berth (even if "only" 8 BE teams go) * Out in 2nd round...possible sweet 16, but that's a long shot.
If all of that becomes reality, I'd say our Hoyas did very well for a "brand new" team and we'll be a Final Four next year. Also, posters here will consider me a genius, a seer or the luckiest guesser ever.
If I'm completely off, no one will remember this post. I can't lose.

Agree with Manila. We were predicted to finish around 8th anyways and we still have time to right the ship. I still want to see us as a 8 or 9 seed in Duke's bracket but they seem to have played themselves out of a #1. No #1 or #2 will want us in the second round as I am thinking Ohio State circa 2006 v. Hoyas.

We need to tie Cincinnati in the BE standings and go farther than them in the BET, or even better beat them in the 8-9 or 7-10 game to end any argument that their sweep means they should go ahead of Georgetown.

I like my thread-starting prediction even more now - we actually had a better showing at the Dome than I expected, and it gives the team some confidence and something to build on.
I'm still seeing 9-9 in the conference after a strong end of season run here, and that would almost certainly give us a bid. As for the Cincy talk, tough luck for the Bearcats but if we have the same conference record or even 1 game worse, I think we get the nod over them. That is, unless the committee goes against all of its recent history in similar situations.
Let's go Hoyas - a memorable end to the season begins Wednesday at USF.

It's the NIT baby, buy your tickets for MSG, Hoyas will be a top seed and make it to the final four.
All the rest is just wishful thinking.
Bearcats also heading for NIT, but won't get past first two rounds, their lack of discipline will do them in.
My guess. only 6 teams from BE get NCAA bids, unless someone makes a big run in BET. Not likely, the cream will rise to the top.

I think we beat usf, split marq and lou, and win our last three (I think we match up well with nova) to finish 8-8. Win one or two in bet and we get in dance due to our quality wins and tough schedule. Really hoping the end of the cuse game lights a fire and our players are much more active on the court.

Trust me, everyone here knows what OUR team needs to do - a 5-1 finish or a strong run in the BET with anything less. You have already demonstrated your complete and utter cluelessness with the NCAA selection process, so please stop pretending to be a Hoya fan so you can post your negative thoughts here. Go root for your fine, upstanding university that graduates basketball players about as often as you have an intelligent thought. As posted in another thread, confine your posts to basketball discussion, not commenting on other posters.

Everybody knows what the team needs to do, but it isn't quite so clear that the team is capable of accomplishing that. A team with one road win this year is going to win at Nova, which has been killing it at home of late? Hmm. If we get to 8-10, we'll be doing great. Then we'll need at least 2 wins in the BET. It's a high mountain to climb, and just because we finally played well for a short stretch of one game doesn't mean we'll be able to climb it. Everyone is already forgetting that we also got outscored 19-1 during one stretch of this last game. Blind optimism is nice, but it isn't necessarily realistic.
