Glad to see Roy knows how to give generic sports quotes to reporters. Also, Roy still looks good in Hoya gear

ROY: Just keeping running point to the strong side and things will happen. They know what I'm talking about. OK, that sounds simple enough. Did anyone find it interesting that the one guy Roy said he talks to his Greg? He wasn't even a teammate.

Roy looks about 50 years old in that picture.

Roy should have said, "give Greg the ******* ball, and things will come around."

Nice that he talks to Greg - will probably tell him to stay in school because 4 minutes of playing time on a lousy team against an even worse team isn't that fun and isn't going to build his resume for the next contract.

Roy looks about 50 years old in that picture. I thought he looked incredibly thin and barely recognized him.

I find it very weird/worrisome that Greg is the only current Hoya that Roy talks to.

I find it very weird/worrisome that Greg is the only current Hoya that Roy talks to. I don't. Roy was never the most social member of the team, he seemed to prefer to do his own thing off the court. Doesn't mean anything on the court, on it he was a leader and a warrior. A sometimes disappearing 7-2 warrior, but overall, he meshed with his teammates very well. Don't think that necessarily has to translate to post-graduation friendships with underclassmen off the court just because they all played for the same basketball team....

I find it very weird/worrisome that Greg is the only current Hoya that Roy talks to. Given all the help Roy got from previous Hoya big men, I don't really find this surprising at all. Roy's trying to continue the tradition of dominant big men at Georgetown, and he's doing this through Greg.

I think it's a bit surprising that Greg is the player with whom Roy talks to the most, but not worrisome.
Think of all the turnover we've had in the past few years. All the other players from the class of '08 are gone. Everyone from the class of '09 except Jessie transferred. Even two guys from the class of '10 transferred. That leaves only two players who spent more than one year on the same team as Roy: Jessie and Dajuan. Maybe Roy wasn't really close with either of those guys. It always seemed like among the '08s Roy and Pat were close, and Jon, Jeff, and Tyler were close. I don't know how close any of them were with the underclassmen.
I can definitely imagine a scenario where the coaches have encouraged Greg to seek advice from Roy, or vice versa, or the guys have taken it upon themselves to talk, and where Roy devotes most of his "Hey how's it going?" type of conversations for the guys with whom he played and went to school for four years.

Um, he doesn't say that he only talks to Greg:
"I talk to a couple of the guys, but right now they probably don't want to hear from anybody. They're going through their problems. They'll fix it. I talk to Greg every now and then."
He talks to a couple of guys. Not sure why he singled out Greg specifically, but probably because that's the guy people wonder most about: does our previous big man talk to our current.

Agree with above. The question asks if he talks to them still, which to me implies the question is specifically referring to guys he was on the team with. Then he mentions Greg since he wasn't on the team with Roy. That's just the way I read it.

I think he was being vague about to whom he talks. Then he singled out the one he (probably) talks to the most and/or most recently. That is how I read it.

Like one poster said, we can also always hope Mourning comes back from South Beach area and coaches Greg up...though that would be a decent time commitment.

Nice to hear that Roy is carrying on the tradition. It's not like he HAS to. He CHOOSES to. Says a lot about the program and the school I think. Nice to see Big Roy.
